We are incredibly proud to have been awarded a @classicsforall teaching award this evening, in recognition of our commitment to making Latin an accessible and intrinsic part of our primary curriculum. Many thanks to @sutekh69 for all your encouragement and help. 😁🎉
We are very proud to have Latin firmly embedded within our primary curriculum, making a huge impact on our children’s literacy skills, and hence subsequent life chances.
We are delighted by news in today's @thetimes that Latin is now the fourth most taught language in primary schools! 📜
This heartening statistic reflects the efforts of Classics for All's work supporting Latin and classics in state schools.

Our rationale for including Latin in our curriculum is that is helps children understand how language develops, and ultimately supports vocabulary acquisition & literacy. We are also passionate about inclusive education, where everyone benefits from ambitious opportunities.
Today, we welcomed @sutekh69 from Exeter Uni to YFPS, to see our Latin lessons in action. Dr. Beer, who works for ‘Classics for All’, and has provided training for staff, was very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for Latin, and the application of their knowledge.

Off to Plymouth to visit a primary school I trained up for Latin last year for CfA. No training today: they’ve just invited me along to show me all the Latin related things they’re doing.

Thank you @JosephACoelho for stopping at Plymouth on your marathon tour this morning! The children from @PSMInfants & @yfpsinfo absolutely loved it!
Thank you to Kirsty Jones, from Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, who came into school yesterday to share a new book with Foundation and KS1. We learnt all about the importance of bees (as featured in the book) and we were also interested to learn about Kirsty’s job.
@Martin_Bookmark@BookmarkCharity Yes. It is a somewhat slow process, because the books are way too exciting. The children have already started listing the ones they want to read, and in which order. A couple of members of staff may have got a little over-excited too! 🤣
A huge THANK YOU to @BookmarkCharity for the gift of so many wonderful books for our school. Our junior librarians have been busy stamping and logging them onto our library system so that children can borrow them asap.
