@dankrad HTM bonds don't have to be and aren't marked to market, and the losses are not realized. The way these banks hedge is by having a healthy LCR & NSFR to protect against bank runs while bonds mature.
Those standards were rolled back for "smaller" banks in 2018, SVB was one of em.
@Badbrothers_NFT @POTUS It was Dodd-Frank Act, which Trump gutted with the Reform Act.
Asset threshold for systematically important banks: 50b -> 250b
stopped requiring banks with <250b in assets to report LCR and NSFR, both of which are specifically made to counter what happened at SVB:
@RugDocIO that's like saying using a bottle of water to wash your face during a flood makes the flood worse.
25Bil is negligible on inflation, but very impactful on stopping a large bank from going under and preventing contagion
@AkadoSang@inversebrah one thing's for sure, he definitely wouldn't be tweeting about that time in May 2018 when he increased the asset threshold for Systematically important banks from 50B to 250B, so that smaller banks would not be required to report anti-bank run safeguards such as LCR and NSFR π
@donalt@ColdBloodShill@rollbitcom well ser it does not, but those good roi casino ref links aren't gonna share themselves now, are they?
we do a lilπ€tomfoolery
@biancoresearch Good read. One thing I'd add, banks need to be forced to comply with Basel III regulations, no matter the size.
It makes absolutely zero fucking sense that the 16th largest US bank was too small to follow banking guidelines made to prevent this exact scenario from happening.
@DegenSpartan self custody and not your keys not your coins is the recommended prescription to cope during big cex fiascos
btc needs cexs to survive, normies need cexs to on board, and we need normies to buy our bags, ugh I mean adopt π
