A Nigerian actress Adunni Ade has opened up about her personal spiritual journey, revealing that she returned to Islam on December 31, 2016, after years of practising Christianity.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actress said she was born to a Muslim father and Christian mother. She explained that her father allowed his children to freely choose the faith they wished to practise.
Adunni Ade later converted to Christianity and attended churches including Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM).

According to her, she eventually returned to Islam and has since felt happier, more fulfilled and blessed. She also disclosed that her oldest son has chosen to practise Islam.

The actress said she kept her Muslim identity private for years because she felt it was “almost forbidden” to openly identify as a Muslim within the entertainment industry.

She added that since publicly speaking about her faith, she has faced backlash from some Christian fans, including losing followers on social media, while also receiving significant support from Muslims.

FAREWELL TO A BROTHER: OUR CONDOLENCE VISIT TO OGOGO’S FAMILY

Today, we paid a deeply emotional condolence visit to the family of our beloved brother and accomplished actor, Chief Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.

His passing is particularly painful because throughout his health challenges, we stood by him and took responsibility for his medical bills, believing and praying that he would recover, regain his strength and remain with us for many more years. Sadly, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, decided otherwise.

We had also looked forward to having him serve as our Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism and a full-time member of our cabinet when, by the grace of God and the mandate of our people, we assume office as Governor of Ogun State. We believed his experience and passion for our cultural heritage would have contributed immensely to our vision for the sector.

During the visit, his daughter, speaking on behalf of the entire family, emotionally expressed their appreciation for our support, kindness and commitment to their father throughout his health challenges.

We will miss our brother dearly. We pray that Almighty God grants Chief Taiwo Hassan eternal rest and gives his family, friends, colleagues and admirers the fortitude to bear this painful loss.
