Gene-Scavverz narrated short story. https://t.co/c7Tt3Iz1rD via @YouTube
I wanted to try out something weird. I have a bunch of little short stories and want to do like mini audio book reads with them and some art.
@Samwise7RPG@lzrd_skn_ritual So I would have to re-write the stories (the fluff) but somehow keep it the same. Definitely a lot to consider. The mechanics would be the easiest thing as I would plug in my own, just copy paste. I would not want it to lose its heart which to me is the story.
@SimonHogwood@Samwise7RPG Well the mechanics would be my own words and the character and creature profiles would be mine. But it’s the story I was more so thinking about. I could do this as a one off for this guy but it would be ridiculous cost but if I could put it into a project for release it wouldn’t
@hill_jowett Most people I find who didn’t like 4th wanted theatre and didn’t expect the heavy wargame aspect and the others never played it and just wanted to hate it.
Since I’m building a sandbox setting, I wanted to put that location in somewhere. Naturally, I told myself, "A pseudo-medieval fantasy Europe will do," but then I had a stupid idea: "What if we superimposed Europe onto the Americas?"
Mexican Orcs? Now we're talking.
@JohnMcReadyMBB If you can’t buy & play a game in a weeks time is it really worth it. During 2nd & 3rd edition you could buy an army & build it without going broke & be playing a regular size game that weekend.
Now advice is take a few months to buy enough & one day you will get to play 👎🏿
@vintaddicted I do appreciate the challenge on my original thought, it’s good to be challenged on your views it will either change them or make them stronger. Mine is now even sharper!
I am the last real DESIGNER! Mwahahahah Just kidding on the last part. Thanks buddy!
Do you have any controversial opinions about rpgs? I do:
Most Indy “Game Designers” are not actually game designers, they are simply writers living off the carcass of a 50 year old game. They do not create their own system. They write stories and fluff, they are just Authors.
@vintaddicted My first 2 yrs I scrapped 8 games I was designing, when I got close to finishing one someone released a similar Indy game. I realized I can’t worry about others or what came before, I have to work out my own adventure in life & create things I like & if I’m lucky others will too
@vintaddicted I look at them as pioneers, people to admire their spirit and forge your own path. Imagine a world where everyone bows to the people who did it first in veneration. Nothing would ever get done or be challenged or even proven. It’s good to admire, but let it inspire.
@vintaddicted To me gaming seems spiritual for you. You venerate the original creators, you call it arrogance if others want to create something new, you don’t want to lead plebes away from the holy doctrine but ultimately it’s just more profitable to use someone else’s system, An ideologue
@vintaddicted I get what you’re saying, but to never create because someone already achieved greatness is self defeating. I think Gygax did a great job, I don’t personally like his mechanics. It suffers in combat. I don’t believe creating new is arrogant, I’m not better just different, variety
@vintaddicted That’s why my opinion is controversial. I have probably 20 different Indy books many from people I follow here. 90% are the same game with a different skin/ setting. Many are great but they didn’t really build or design anything. I guess most people see it as a loose term.
@Marky_X_ I applaud their success and hope it leads to a wave of Indy resurgence and the designers who just want to make games without being forced to draw lines or tow social norms can make a living.
@Marky_X_ I said before, it’s just an over correction, an FU to GW & their “left leaning” policies, about hating femstodes & the like. It has nothing to do w/ the game or it’s rules, it’s just a culture disruption & riding the right waves. It reminds me of Rippaverse initial success.
@FlashgitzAnims This just feels like the death knell for Indy games. (Slightly hyperbolic) It doesn’t matter how good your product is, you now have to pick a side & make a social statement. So on my climb to 9mil I state that space wolves are ghey, dark angels are traitors GW paint pots are #1.
