While I understand to the new viewer this might seem like an awkward situation, in reality (and for a long time) this is in large part an ongoing bit where Jason clowns around while I attempt to “keep things professional” and it’s honestly all for laughs.

If you’ve watched us do commentary blocks together in the past you probably know what I’m referring to. Maybe in this instance he got a bit carried away but he wasn’t trying to do something malicious or anything like that.

Given his struggles as of late, as his friend I was just also happy to see him excited about something again, even if it’s as silly as commentating Thug Finals.

It’s another reason I was trying to be extra-encouraging (to the point where I was probably annoying my own viewers) during his FT5 with Zain a couple of weeks ago - just being a friend and reminding him Smash can still be a good thing for him.

There’s even been times where, during some online tourneys when the gameplay is especially stale or slow, he randomly jumps in and makes everyone laugh for a while as the set proceeds. And it honestly is helpful to keep things entertaining sometimes.

Maybe at times I prioritize making someone happy over outputting what might necessarily be the “best product” for my audience - and that’s a fair critique.

Regardless of the above -
What I really do wish was that these kinds of concerns were relayed to him (or me) privately and handled peacefully instead of a large call-out post that just encourages dogpiling and bullying.

People, no matter how old they get, can still learn. Constructive criticism is an important thing, but how we choose we do it on a medium this volatile (Twitter) is also just as important.
