The first major wave of online misinformation resulted in Brexit, a decision that the majority of economists regard as the most damaging economic choice Britain has made in modern times, making millions of working families poorer.

Now it appears a second wave may succeed in forcing out a democratically elected Prime Minister who in a short timeframe has a track record of delivering policy designed to help millions of working families. Not a perfect man, but certainly one of the better PMs of the last 30 years or so.

A wave of gross & obvious misinformation, spread and amplified by foreign-owned social media platforms, in a deliberate campaign designed to indoctrinate UK citizens, may have toppled a British Prime Minister.

We are going down a very dark path here.

THE QUESTION NOBODY WANTS TO ANSWER
Something curious is happening in Westminster.
Keir Starmer lists achievements that critics said were impossible.
The economy stabilising.
Waiting lists falling.
Migration coming down.
Britain rebuilding relationships abroad.
Yet the conversation is not about whether those achievements matter.
It is about who should inherit them.
That should give us pause.
Because there are two very different arguments.
One says Starmer has failed.
The other says Burnham won a by-election.
Those are not the same thing.
One is a verdict on government.
The other is an opportunity spotted by ambitious people.
And perhaps the greatest irony of all is this:
The louder the talk of a "calm", "dignified" and "consensual" handover becomes, the less it sounds like unity and the more it sounds like power.
Politics is full of people who want the crown.
Britain needs people willing to carry the burden.
Keir Starmer inherited a country that was broken.
He rebuilt the party.
He won the mandate.
Now he is doing the difficult work of rebuilding the nation.
That is not a reason to replace him.
It is a reason to let him finish the job.

Today, we are a significant step closer to ensuring Windermere is protected for future generations. This is a truly historic moment for our lake. Over the last four years, our grassroots movement has highlighted the challenges facing our lake, and today, we have succeeded in bringing the government and all essential stakeholders together around a single, shared ambition: to end sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all.

Speaking on the shores of the lake, Environment Minister Steve Reed made a groundbreaking commitment:

“The government has pledged to work with us and local partners to eliminate all sewage discharges into Windermere.”

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without you. To our supporters, volunteers, businesses, and organisations who stood with us—thank you. We also acknowledge the leadership of United Utilities CEO Louise Beardmore and Environment Agency Area Director Carol Holt, who have worked with us in recent months to make today’s announcement possible.

But let’s be clear—this is not the end.
While today’s announcement is a breakthrough, it is still just a promise. Nothing is legally binding, and we won’t let this urgent issue be kicked into the long grass. We must keep up the pressure until these words turn into real, cast-iron commitments.

We need you now more than ever. Stay with us. Support the fight. Help us secure a sewage-free Windermere.

Together, we can make Windermere the cleanest lake in the country—preserving its beauty for generations to come.

In a monumental victory for Save Windermere, United Utilities (UU) has withdrawn their appeals to the First-Tier Tribunal, where they argued that the Information Commissioner (ICO) was wrong in in their decision telling them to release environmental information to the campaign. They have also subsequently released the environmental data they had been fighting to withhold from the public.

Save Windermere, as a second respondent in this case, worked tirelessly alongside esteemed barristers Nicholas Ostrowski and Samual Glanville, who provided pro-bono work on this case. 

Since the decision, United Utilities has communicated readily with the campaign. In addition to releasing the appeal information, they have also provided a significant amount of additional data we had previously requested. We commend this new approach by UU and the leadership decisions that led to this increased transparency about how their activities impact England's largest lake.

While we are encouraged by this outcome, we cannot ignore that it took years of persistent campaigning to achieve it, including countless complaints to the ICO, news articles and national media coverage and even the imposition of a special enforcement measure on United Utilities by the ICO –  the foundations for which were laid by Save Windermere – making them the first water company in the UK to receive one. 

We hope United Utilities will continue this newfound commitment to transparency and make strides in collecting more comprehensive data to fully assess their impact on Windermere. Should the need arise, Save Windermere will not hesitate to fight for transparency again.
