Whenever u cancel a subscription and then they offer you that last-ditch 50% off BS in an attempt to keep you on board, I’m always reminded that the entire pricing model for subscriptions is dictated by thin-fucking air, and they can change it on a whim when it conveniences them.
they were so perfect for each other writers not allowing their characters to evolve naturally will always ruin a good thing like yes u started off w maeve endgame in mind but then a surprising better thing happened! learn to adapt!
We need a general strike so bad man. I’m so sick of the shrinkflation. The poison in our produce. The recipe changes to cheaper ingredients that are borderline toxic. IM TIRED
It’s just so fucking smart to show the sacking of Troy as an action sequence (which fucking BANGED) and then later show the real version where they are just snatching up women and slaughtering them. What a nifty trick
Government: Why aren’t women having babies??
Economists: Well, housing is unaffordable, childcare costs a fortune, wages haven’t kept up, and 37% of Americans can’t afford a $500 emergency.
Government: Interesting. Let’s blame feminism.
“The traditional man wants a woman to be subservient, but he never falls in love with subservient women. He’s attracted to independent women. He’s like an exotic bird collector,” she said. “He only wants a woman who is free because his dream is to put her in a cage.” Trevor Noah
There's a new guy at work and he's been here maybe two weeks and we're in a meeting and my boss is talking about quarterly goals or whatever and she goes "we really need to circle back to customer retention" and this guy raises his hand and goes "I have a question" and my boss is like yes and he goes "why do you always say circle back?" and the whole room goes quiet and my boss is like what and he goes "you say it like every meeting is there a reason we're going in circles why don't we just go forward" and someone coughs and he's still going "like I've been keeping track you've said it eighteen times in two weeks" and my boss just stares at him and goes "have you never worked in an office before" and he goes "I have but nobody said circle back this much it feels aggressive" and I swear my boss aged five years and she goes "it's just a phrase" and he goes "okay but like why circles" and she just moved on with the meeting. He got let go during his probation period today and I heard him ask HR if it was because of the circle thing.
thinking about how odysseus and his men beheaded a priestess of athena in a temple of athena when attacking troy and how athena comes to him in the form of her slain priestess to remind him of his sins and the blood that could never be washed from his hands
men are task-based socializers and women aren't in general. a women will have the library of Alexandria in her head and still socialize with pleasantries and talking about people and the social dynamics, while men talk about things so men assume women don't know things.
I genuinely think the standard workday should be 10 a.m.–3 p.m. or 9 a.m.–2 p.m. There’s no reason people should spend the majority of their lives at work. Let people get home with enough time to be with their families, partners, and friends, pursue hobbies, and actually rest. A lot of today’s burnout and unhappiness comes from the fact that work consumes almost all of our waking hours.
