Because she is so dignified and concerned about others more than herself, she does her best to mask her own suffering. I can’t believe that it took multiple falls before they released her. 🚨 Courtroom Update: Dr. Hak Ja Han's Dire Health Crisis Amid Ongoing Trial – A Call for Humanity

On January 27, 2026, a concerned attendee at the Seoul Central District Court (Courtroom 509, West Annex) witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking reality facing Dr. Hak Ja Han, 83, spiritual leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, often revered as the Mother of Peace.

The observer described arriving shortly before the afternoon session, standing in the public corridor where general access is permitted. What emerged from conversations with fellow attendees and courtroom insiders was profoundly disturbing: Dr. Han's health has deteriorated severely.

During the morning proceedings, she collapsed in the restroom—an incident described as a stumble that escalated into a fall. This follows another fall last Friday.

Her condition includes near-total blindness from macular degeneration, making independent movement impossible.

She has suffered repeated falls on her hips and pelvis, leaving her unable to stand or walk without severe pain.

Her leg cartilage is ruptured, forcing her to crawl on all fours even to reach the bathroom. Compounding this, she suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, where any episode could be life-threatening with limited intervention possible in her current circumstances.

The defense attorney passionately argued against forcing her continued participation: "We can no longer subject her to this trial."

The prosecutor insisted she could still attend.

In a raised voice, the lawyer highlighted the indignity: "She's crawling just to use the restroom—how can you make her endure a trial like this?!"

Remarkably, the judge showed empathy, noting his own elderly mother's similar eye issues and stating, "I understand the situation." Permission was granted for non-attendance in the afternoon via her lawyer, likely with a wheelchair, though even that appears insufficient given her fragility. Another bail application is reportedly forthcoming.

This is not merely a legal matter—it is a stark failure of basic humanity. Dr. Han, who has devoted her life to promoting global peace, interfaith harmony, education, and family values through initiatives reaching millions worldwide, now faces an ordeal that ignores her advanced age and profound vulnerabilities.

Detained since September 2025, she endures this amid allegations tied to organizational and political matters that demand compassion, not prolonged suffering.

The prosecution's refusal to accommodate her condition raises serious questions about mercy, elder care, and due process. If an 83-year-old woman—nearly blind, barely mobile, at risk of fatal heart events—must be dragged through court proceedings, what precedent does this set? The courtroom corridor carried a palpable heaviness, with observers moved to tears by the injustice.

This is elder abuse masked as justice. It is persecution that erodes faith in South Korea's system.

When the judge at the December 1 trial asked, “Do you have anything you wish to say?”, this is the full statement True Mother offered:

“For more than eighty years of my life, I have worked with the dream of attending the Creator, our Heavenly Parent, here on earth. That is why, in April of 2025, the dream of the Creator—to live on earth as the True Parent embracing His children—was to be realized according to the principle of creation. Knowing this, I dedicated my entire life to accomplishing that dream, and I resolved that I must build a palace where the Creator could dwell. So I gave everything to that mission.

I have had no interest in the politics of this country. Not in my entire life. My life has been devoted to educating humanity so that all people, as one human family attending our Heavenly Parent, receive Heaven’s love as true families and ultimately enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Because of this, everyone—political leaders, religious leaders, academic leaders around the world—know me as the Mother of Peace, as Holy Mother Han. Regarding this current situation as well, since they have observed me for a long time, they are deeply concerned about what is happening. It is true that many high-level figures are hoping that this trial will be handled in a genuinely democratic and just manner.

I am not the kind of person the Special Prosecutor describes! I have not feared Heaven for even a moment—I love Heaven! Because fulfilling the dream of our Heavenly Parent on earth has been my lifelong wish, I earnestly ask that, if any opportunity arises in connection with this unfortunate event, you will come to Gapyeong and see for yourselves.
