Hamzat is trending because per reports, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has selected D. Gov Obafemi Hamzat as Lagos guber-candidate, Yayi for Ogun, although Abiodun didn’t support.

Lagos contenders were Ambode, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tokunbo Wahab, Obasa, Tokunbo Abiru, Jandor, Hakeem Muri-Okunola; all to be compensated.

Dapo Abiodun prefered Senator Shaibu Afolabi Salisu, but they settled for Yayi.

Shaibu represents Ogun Central at Senate, but former Governor Ibikunle Amosun has been cleared for that position, leaving Dapo Abiodun to seek alternative compensation for Shaibu.

Sharafadeen Alli also selected for Oyo, as he had majority backing including from the Olubadan of Ibadan, Ladoja.

Alli is former Oyo State Govt secretary and Chief of Staff under Ladoja, before becoming senator for Oyo South. Bayo Adelabu wasn’t really considered because of unpopularity concerns.

Adelabu was also not popular with members of APC Oyo, who all preferred Alli. Therefore it would be impossible for him to defeat Seyi Makinde’s annointed heir.

All of these was concluded after two rounds of meeting on Sunday, in Lagos with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Punch reported exclusively.

However, patriotic Nigerians do not fully endorse Hamzat, few worry he might be liberal towards other tribes like Sanwo-Olu.

MC Oluomo Sacked as Baruwa-Led Faction Seizes NURTW Secretariat

The faction of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW) led by Tajudeen Baruwa has taken control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The takeover occurred on Monday when members of Baruwa’s faction stormed the headquarters amid an ongoing leadership dispute with the faction headed by Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

MC Oluomo had been elected National President in November 2024, but a court ruling later favored Baruwa in the legal battle over the union’s leadership.

Despite the court decision, MC Oluomo continued to function as president until the recent takeover.

In Nigeria, many cannot separate countries from politics and their personal feelings and emotions. Countries all over the world go through issues, but their citizens still love their country.

Iran is still being bombarded left and right, but just today, millions turn out to support their country.

In Nigeria, being anti Nigeria is a flex and a money making scheme.

At the end of the day, we all have our constitutional rights to freedom of choice and association.

If you hate Nigeria and the president, that's your problem, but you don't get to bully or dictate to other Nigerians how and when to love their country.

You hate your country, but you still want people to believe you want your country to succeed, no, it doesn't work that way, if you want your country to succeed, you have to put in your own effort, you have to contribute and answer they call like Tiwa when your country needs you.

So, stop pretending, your anger against Tiwa is because you hate Nigeria and you don't want Nigeria to succeed.

What's good for Nigeria makes you sad and what's bad for Nigeria makes you happy.

Mr President @officialABAT appointed Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd) to help organise our military into a potent force. A fine General who had just been retired from service. His appointment was celebrated by all and sundry. It looked like a breath of fresh air.

What does he do? He is out here wearing GCGM on his cap. The first time I have seen someone decorate a hula so much. He is showing his hands too early and making his ambitions too obvious. I have no issue with any such ambitions.

If no one around him will tell him, I will do him the favours. It’s a poor look.

Even politicians that didn’t (supposedly) accidentally become one aren’t so blatant and out of touch. And amidst such a security challenge, he carries that GCGM cap and goes to do a handshake with the president in London. Was he also invited by the King of England?

A conventional politician being so badly behaved would have been bad enough. A recently retired fine officer politicking harder than politicians is where shock comes to meet disgust. And the rank and file are meant to be motivated and excited by these shenanigans?

Let those who have been appointed to work do their job. I hope this won’t earn me a Bwala-esque soft block. This is the business of a country and we must take it seriously.

I took up a case privately with a minister yesterday because I had direct access to him. And I knew him to be serious and reasonable. I am posting this here publicly because it’s the only option available to me. GCGM needs to fix up and that won’t be by us seeing those initials on his head at all times. We already know he is GCGM.

I like the man and he looks like he cares. He just needs to show it. New hires must hit the ground running already and he hasn’t hit the ground, let alone be deemed to be running.

We can’t even say he is a new hire now. It’s been over 3 months. It’s still the same difference, if not worse. We want results please. Please go back to the plain cap you wore when you were sworn in and leave these photo ops for ministers that can’t afford not to do them. There are bigger rewards on the back of a job well done. If things get better, I probably wouldn’t notice the cap that much.

One of the reasons why I enlighten people about the law is that some people still do not know that these laws exist and the consequences are grave.

You had a misunderstanding with someone and you are already threatening to "call boys" on them. You beat people up at every slightest provocation!

Should I tell you that if anything happens to that person within a period of time after the assault, or the person eventually diés, the law may presume that you are responsible for the déath.

According to reports, this young man was seen beating the deceased. Shortly, after the incident, the lady reportedly went home and took a poisonous substance which later led to her déath.

Many people wondered why the young man was sentenced to déath when the lady reportedly took her life but they don't realize that the law is not sentiment.

Under Nigerian criminal law, the law does not only look at how the person finally diéd but who started the act that led to their déath(Chain of causation).

Sections 311–313 of the Criminal Code Act generally provide that a person who unlawfully inflicts an injury on another may still be held responsible if that injury accelerates the person's death or contributes to the déath, even if other factors were involved.

Additionally, Section 314 of the Criminal Code Act states that for a person to be deemed to have kîlled another, the déath must occur within one(1) year and a day of the act that allegedly caused the déath. In other words, if after inflicting serious bodily harm on the person, and they dié within this period, the law presumes you caused their déath.

And if you're guilty of the above, you won't walk out of the courtroom, as a FREE man.

Veteran actor famous for playing Papa Ajasco (Abiodun Ayoyinka) says that despite acting the role for decades, he still has no house and no car of his own

According to him, when he started acting the series produced by Wale Adenuga around 1997, he was being paid about ₦2,500 per episode.
Over the years, the payment increased gradually to ₦3,000, ₦4,000, ₦5,000, ₦20,000 and ₦25,000.

Today in 2026, he says he earns about ₦45,000 per episode which is even below Nigeria’s ₦70,000 minimum wage.

He also explained that the character “Papa Ajasco” has been trademarked by Wale Adenuga. Because of this, he cannot take endorsement deals or commercial opportunities using the character without permission from the trademark owner.

But legally, is there anything he can still do now?

Possibly yes, depending on the circumstances.

🥢 He may review the contract he signed to see whether there are provisions for better remuneration, royalties, or other benefits.
🥢 If the character and show continue to generate commercial value, he may negotiate improved terms or compensation with the producer.
🥢 In some cases, where the arrangement appears grossly unfair or exploitative, the matter could even become a subject of legal review or renegotiation.

However, as long as the trademark for the character is validly registered, the actor cannot independently commercialize the character without permission from the owner.

The legal lesson for young creatives

Before playing a major character in a film or TV series, always understand:
🥢 Who owns the character rights
🥢 Whether you are entitled to royalties or residual payments
🥢 What happens if the show becomes commercially successful years later

Because in law, being the face of a character does not always mean you own it. The real ownership usually belongs to the person who created it, registered it, or protected it through a contract.

Our house overhead water tank broke last week. The tank is very old and badly damaged; it’s beyond repair. We informed our landlord immediately, expecting him to replace it so we could have water again.

To our shock, he said it isn't his responsibility! He told us that since we are the ones consuming the water, we should all contribute money to buy a new one. He even said if we don’t like it, we should keep buying bags of sachet water or 'meruwa' from outside.

As tenants, we are confused. We already pay a high rent—is it legal for a landlord to refuse to fix a major part of the house plumbing? Whose job is it to replace a dead water tank?

Response:

In Nigeria, the responsibility for repairs is generally divided into two categories: Internal/Minor Repairs and Structural/Major Repairs.

Structural Integrity: A water tank and the scaffolding holding it are considered "fixtures" and part of the external/structural plumbing of the building. Unless your tenancy agreement specifically states that tenants are responsible for "major external installations," the burden falls on the Landlord.

The Duty to Provide a Habitable Premises: A landlord has an implied duty to ensure the property is "fit for human habitation." A house without a functional water system is technically not habitable.

The "Wear and Tear" Rule: Since the tank is "very old," this falls under Fair Wear and Tear. Tenants are only liable for damages caused by their own negligence. If the tank died of old age, the landlord must replace it.

The Way Forward: If the landlord refuses, tenants can collectively fix it and deduct the cost from the next rent, but only after serving proper legal notices and getting a professional assessment/valuation. Never just "deduct" without a written agreement or court intervention, or you might face a quit notice later.
