When I was in medical school, I knew a guy who almost never showed up.
He skipped lectures.
Called in sick for labs and tutorials.
Basically vanished for most of the year.
The night before our second-year finals, he was hanging out at my place and casually mentioned that he’d spent the last week watching the entire year’s lectures at 2x speed.
I thought he was doomed.
He ended up placing in the top 10 out of roughly 300 students.
In every exam.
The crazy part wasn’t just that he remembered the material. He had a deeper, more practical understanding of it than a lot of people who had attended every lecture.
Watching him was both impressive and slightly terrifying.
I always thought that if he ever decided to fully apply himself, he’d be unstoppable.
But he seemed perfectly happy doing the bare minimum and still outperforming almost everyone.
Inna lil Laahi wa inna ilaiHi Raaji'un!
Today, Friday, we lost a young scholar named Brother Abubakar Pharmacy, who had been ill.
May Allah overlook his shortcomings and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus together with our departed parents and loved ones.Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
Men are so private online. A guy could be moving to another country or having his first child, and he’d still only post a random football score on his story.
I was born with sickle cell disease.
I had Crisis after crisis, constant pain, multiple organ damage by age 28. Doctors said I wouldn’t see 35.
During one brutal episode, I prayed like never before while hooked up to morphine. The pain vanished overnight.
Follow up tests showed my hemoglobin was normal. No sickle cells. Geneticists ran every test, markers for the disease had disappeared. I haven’t had a crisis in 4 years.
My hematologist calls me the walking miracle file.
You have to believe that there is God.
Anyone in this country with even an iota of involvement to insurgency and banditry in Nigeria, may life become unbearable for them, may all their atrocities return to them in folds, may their end be seen by all.
Arewa has no media is such a funny way to mask up the stupid misplaced priorities of your people. When Bello Matawalle’s son inlaw cheated, you people had enough voices to make it trend in every corner of the internet for days. But Matawalle as minister of defense has never trended on Arewa media for his failure to tackle the constant daily killings of Northerners under his leadership. Even the top voices in Arewa have turned to slaves to the very politicians that failed to protect the North. Arewa’s problem is stupid misplaced priorities centered around marriage, relationship gossips and political almajiri pandemic not lack of media.
INNALILLAHI WA’INA ILAIHIRRAJIUN 💔💔
I came home happy & sat chatting with my mother. She told me the meat from last Sallah was not enough for her to share with people.
I smiled & told her nt to worry, tht this year I would slaughter a cow for us. She happily replied, “May Allah make it possible.”
We laughed and joked together, and before leaving for work, I went to the cattle market searching for cows.
After bargaining with a seller, I wanted to make a transfer, but they said they only accepted cash, so I went to withdraw the money.
Filled with joy, I called her & said, “Mother, our Sallah cows are ready.
This year you will share meat until you get tired.”
She quietly replied, “I may not even be alive to eat from it.”
I answered, “No, you will eat and enjoy it.”
But Subhanallah 😢💔… little did I know my mother would not even witness this Sallah. Today the cows are here, but she is gone.
May Allah forgive her, brighten her grave, & reward her for every good intention you had.
We humbly ask our Muslim brothers and sisters to remember her in your sincere prayers.
