@DrizzyDraught Big financial outlay for families to get kids into the sport year after year when the other sports have more academy prospects and scouting. The US is far behind other sports for getting kids out of poverty. When many other nations it does exactly that
@fadule_ There are guys who get drafted to the NFL that have barely played. Some guys didn’t even specialize in basketball or play for that long before going to the NBA. You don’t start soccer in your teens or later and go far at all lol 😂
@Bill_unplugged@SamLee Yes turn on one of these games and see guy running and throwing a ball with his hands and catching it with his hands and playing a vastly different game. Come on 🤦🏽♂️
@toro__training Kids are being coached by Dad’s or “coaches” that have little to no experience or knowledge of the game. Other countries, great coaches coach the kids. Bayern’s academy has some of their best coaches training their kids
@HybridElitePrep Weird that people bring up NFL or NBA players when so little of what they prep for or are tested for in combines means anything in soccer. Genuine apples to oranges
@BowTiedCrow Likely wouldn’t matter. Our development is behind rest of the world. Lot to ask if SB would have the body to hold up for the amount of running he would have to do and holding a ball with his hands while running means zero about ability to dribble with it at feet
@HedgeDirty Figure all the kids in European and South American countries have already specialized by age 6-8 and are cultivating skills at a higher level earlier while also getting strong and fast.
@KylePagan_ Wouldn’t probably happen till the kids that started at like 6 came of age. Would guess 6 cups even if we became a specialized country. Still have to get the academy systems right for technical and tactical quality. We can already pump out great athletes
@toro__training We care lol we just like to pretend we don’t and we’re deeply annoyed that we don’t know how to make the country churn out world class players. Lot of interesting takes on what we need to do out there
@DevSportsTalk lol US teams have classically been more about athleticism and physicality… with about the same results. Top 10 teams in the world all have players with plenty of athleticism but way more technical ability. USA doesn’t break into that until we get more of that blend
@markvalorian There isn’t a solid infrastructure and incentive base to get our younger kids playing soccer early on and over to Europe early on in bigger numbers. And the game here is just pay to play
@eltri_united Refs and altitude had England more on the ropes than Mexico did. They played down a man for 40 mins and looked like they wouldn’t allow another goal unless the ref decided to give another gift
