We are deeply saddened to share that our friend and colleague Professor Amos B. Smith III has passed away. Amos joined Penn in 1973 and was a mainstay in our organic chemistry division. He recently celebrated 50 years of service to @PennSAS@Penn.
Great news - Accession receive MHRA approval for first in human clinical trial of TROCEPT-01 across six UK sites in a range of recalcitrant tumour types. Fantastic to see an agent initially developed @cardiffuni in my @virustinkerer make it to clinic.

Very sad news of the passing of @sirfrasersays, a giant of chemistry for four decades. He pioneered (with J-P Sauvage) the chemistry of the mechanical bond (catenanes & rotaxanes) & recognised that their well defined motions could be useful for molecular machinery... 1/3
Post-doctoral fellow position for 3 years on the structural biology of signaling complexes downstream of LRRK2 kinase, in the lab of Amir Khan, Dublin, Ireland. This is a collaborative position with Dario Alessi at the MRC PPU, Dundee, Scotland https://t.co/577Pf4qlnj
📢In this year's GPhC registration exam, our graduates performed top in the UK with a pass rate at first attempt of 93%. We're very proud of their achievements! 🎉
**MEETING ALERT** @BiochemSoc@ASAP_Research 20th Anniversary meeting on #PINK1 mutations in #Parkinsons. Fantastic lineup of speakers; industry and clinical talks and many early-career speaker slots. To register and learn more click: https://t.co/QaVSAlgNpj
📢 Two new preprints alert! LRRK2-a kinase associated with #Parkinson’s and #crohn's #IBD. But where is it expressed and active? Not in Paneth cells, important for Crohn’s, but IL-4 induced in B cells, and other immune cells- see https://t.co/svT0snjwnd https://t.co/t9ziOr46AH
“My time at the MRC PPU was truly formative for my scientific career."

The landscape of small-molecule prodrugs https://t.co/q8qsxZesPH
This new review analyses approved prodrugs to reveal trends in their development, highlighting design rationales, indications, mechanisms of API release, chemistry of promoieties and the market impact of prodrugs
@sybanerjee@cardiffuni@mrcppu@UoDMedicine Thank you Sourav for visiting us and sharing with us your work on protein kinases. I look forward to seeing how your projects progress in the future.

A few years back I started a journey to learn more about biopharma and drug discovery. Here is a list of the books I have found helpful (loosely grouped by topic) with the outstanding books highlighted by (+++). Feel free to add your own recommendations, I'll keep adding mine.
