I’ve been thinking about how there is no real political left in India. The opposition or the “left” parties are centrist liberals at best. Many are centre-right. They function with the same fascist values and recreate the same oppression. The communist parties have been sold out, adopting socialist values at best when it suits them. Much of the parliamentary opposition is focused on managing the existing order rather than transforming it, but then again, that’s electoral politics for ya. Opposition parties oppose the BJP electorally while accepting much of its ideological framework, claiming to produce change without rupture. There’s that, sigh.
