@QueerEye The absolute irony in telling Speedy "You don't have to settle. You deserve everything to be just accessible as everyone else," after that is wild to me. #wheelchairuser
@QueerEye "Look at the Fab 5, carrying a disabled man up steps!!! They're such good people!!!" No. If you're inviting a wheelchair user somewhere, you should think about accessibility. I've been to New Orleans, there are wheelchair accessible options for accommodations. #queereye7
I woke up to my body feeling like it had been freeze dried and shattered in the night (not to mention pain waking me up no less than four times π) but I managed to make a nice breakfast for myself so. That's something? It made me happy and filled my tummy with good things.
@chlobliviate Thank you so much! And aaaa it feels so crappy to have to worry so much when things are going well. I'm caught between wanting to do as much as possible while I can and restricting so I don't hurt myself. Bleh. But I'm glad I'm not alone in the struggle.
Things have been better lately. Why am I always holding my breath when things are good? I can't help but wait for the moment my body gives out. But I have lots of nice fairy lights and local honey for toast and tea. I'll try to just breathe and enjoy these moments. π
I'm too tired to focus on reading bc I wasn't able to sleep last night from pain but I'm in too much pain to sleep. π Really cool. Really great. Ugh.
Which makes me feel very silly. If it gave me more relief I should do it, right? But the implant in my back gets so uncomfortable when I lose any amount of weight. If I had to deal with that in the back and the front? I just wonder if I'd be adding more discomfort than relief.
At my last pain management appointment my physician asked if I've thought of trying a pain pump implant. And. I feel very conflicted about it. On one hand, any relief from pain is always my priority. But I already have one implant, it is difficult to imagine two. π₯²
Sometimes being single is bothersome but other times I'm eating cold spaghetti in bed watching Mad Max: Fury Road and? I'm so happy? No one to be sad about. Just spaghetti. π
@Doctrinaire553 The assumption that disabled/chronically ill people are faking their conditions when they don't present with 100% of their symptoms visibly 24/7 is exhausting. βΉ Our conditions cost us so much not only financially, but in our work, in our relationships. Why would we fake this??
I'm at my first conference for work since the pandemic hit and I just had a grown man approach me and stare at me and my powerchair for a moment before saying "You're not really crippled, are you?" Excuse me?!?!?!?!
I want to be in the mountains getting drunk with my friends. I want to touch snow again. I want to not feel like my joints are rotting from the inside. Little hopes, little dreams.
A bright side from this week though: I'm definitely catching up on my reading goal for the year. I'm sitting at 12/50 books read and the majority of those I have read this month. Hiding from reality in books is such a nice way to exist when anxiety is trying to choke you out.
I'm having a distinctly "listen to Jack Johnson with the windows open and be productive" kind of morning after struggling to do anything besides read all week and I'm not mad at it at all.
