I have 10+ yrs research experience on two continents ranging from carnivores, herbivores, to a range of other mammals and reptiles. Topics include anthropogenic disturbance, human-wildlife conflict, livestock mortality, habitat selection, animal behavior, epigenetics and -omics.
And so it begins. Our National Parks are already suffering greatly from the impacts of overcrowding. Some won't be content until Yosemite turns into an amusement park. Study after study shows the impact of more and more recreation on wildlife and the ecosystem. Our parks are supposed to be the best protected places on the planet, not Disneyland.
Representative McClintock introduced H.R.177 - Yosemite National Park Equal Access and Fairness Act. Call or write you representative today to tell them to VOTE no. Protect Yosemite and all national parks.
This bill is so misnamed. Equal opportunity to access does not mean unlimited. Introducing more resource damage and impacts is certainly not fair to the wildlife in these parks, nor to the American public who treasure them. There are plenty of places in the Sierra that allow boating and motorized vehicles--Hetch Hetchy does not need to be added to that list.
H.R.177 - Yosemite National Park Equal Access and Fairness Act

“(1) Swimming.
“(2) Use of non-motorized watercraft.
“(3) Camping in and around each such area if such camping is not below the respective ordinary high-water marks of each such area.
“(4) Picnicking in and around each such area.
“(5) Other recreational activities the Secretary determines appropriate.
“(6) Use by motorized and non-motorized vehicles of roads required to access each such area to conduct activities described in this subsection if such use has no negative effect on the operation or maintenance of any facility associated with a dam within each such area.”

Montana seeks to cap its wolf population at 450. House Bill 176 proposes several measures to reduce wolf numbers when the population is at or above 450, including allowing a single hunter to kill an unlimited number of wolves. Hearing: today, 3 PM MST. https://t.co/3OZxMn6lGy
Hey folks, several members of my dear friend @UrbanSchell’s family lost their homes in Altadena. Please consider donating to help them rebuild. Sharing helps too, even if you can’t donate. Thank you 💙.

For the first time, our biologists have observed GPS data from a collared wolf south of I-70.
Wolves are habitat generalists and it’s anticipated they will expand widely over time in Colorado. We’re sharing this specifically because this is the first observance of this data.
Any and all support helps in order to make our next FI Week 2025 a success! Thanks to everyone who has donated so far.
We are still seeking at least one more $500 sponsorship. Any help is greatly appreciated! Learn how to donate below: 👇🏽

@lydia_wildlife 2/2 Feel out your new space before loading up to relocate everything, basically. Pack in small amounts like going camping a few plates and a few utensils etc. Look up affordable monthly airbnb's w/furniture. Happy packing! I think you shouldnt pass up if its a solid opportunity.
@lydia_wildlife In a similar situation but earlier in that dilemma. I'm putting my stuff into storage and bringing a small amount of basics. Then once I confirm something long term I'll go back for all of my stuff in storage like my mattress and essentials. 1/2
The majority of the academics with whom I'm in regular contact rank grad school as one of, if not the, worst experience(s) of their life.
Have we thought about making it more about education and less about hazing/identity de-valuation?
Our lab is looking to recruit a PhD student in Jan 2025. If you are interested in doing PhD in Evolutionary Biology with us, please get in touch. More details of our research and the application are here: https://t.co/nYB62L2oRK
