Another day, another deluge of #climate news, this time a 'thundering wake-up call' on rising carbon levels - @MattMcGrathBBC on the @UNEP ‘emissions gap’ https://t.co/kR8ZoQkKA0
Reminder that although this week's UNEP report shows fossil fuel extraction plans are projected to RISE steeply, not fall, there is hope - and "hope all starts with honesty"

Since the @climatepledge was founded, Amazon’s emissions have only gone up, increasing another 19% in 2020. Amazon’s pride that this is in line with its targets just makes it more clear- Amazon’s climate goals are not. good. enough.

An insight from the @IPCC_CH#climatechange report is the significant role of #methane emissions (responsible for ~0.5 degrees of warming). Most methane emissions are from agriculture. Regulators, food and ag companies must take action on methane as part of the climate solution.
The @IPCC_CH#climatechange report calls attention to the role of #naturebasedsolutions. Land and oceans are a sink for more than half of emissions. We can't limit warming to 1.5°C unless we limit emissions from nature and increase its capacity to draw CO2 out of the atmosphere.
New EU climate plan recognizes the need to address #scopethree embodied emissions in supply chains to address #climatechange.
Upstream materials account for the vast majority of the emissions embedded in many products we use every day.
