Men are a race curious to know of other men’s lives, but slothful to correct their own. Why should they wish to hear from me what I am, when they do not wish to hear from You what they are themselves?
-St. Augustine
If there’s no God it would mean:
>Rationality came from the nonrational
>Morality came from something amoral
>Intelligence came from something unintelligent
>Free will comes from something determined
>The person comes from the impersonal
>Highly complex information systems come from chance
>Consciousness comes from something unconscious
That requires a level of faith I don’t think is humanly possible.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX It’s called philosophy. It’s necessary to make sense of the world around us. The first scientists referred to themselves as “philosophers of nature”. They understood the limits of scientific inquiry and the purpose of science as a branch of philosophy. You don’t.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX You are the one who says “everything”requires a cause. I am saying that everything that “has a beginning” requires a cause. Eventually you realize there has to be an ultimate cause which itself has no beginning. Otherwise, like the train analogy, events couldn’t be set in motion.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX 2/2 God, by definition, is uncreated. It is simply in His nature to exist. He is outside of the boundaries of space and time. That’s what makes Him supernatural. He’s beyond and above nature. Naturalism has the issue of infinite relapse, which is why you project it.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX 1/2 Think of a train. You wouldn’t say the boxcars are moved by each other indefinitely, otherwise they couldn’t move. Something has to pull them. A locomotive is self moving, the rest of the train is contingent upon it for their movement. Likewise, nature is contingent upon God.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX You cannot give what you do not have. Naturalism is a false religion. The absence of life cannot create life. There are no “testable explanations” for the origin of life or natural processes. Nature had a beginning. Therefore, nature had a supernatural cause.
@apart_blown@AgainstAtheismX Naturalism is a worldview. If you do not believe in God, necessarily you believe the absence of life produced life, which is a violation of logic. Do you believe we are byproducts of natural processes?
@AgainstAtheismX It’s always worth asking an atheist what their relationship is like with their father. Often it’s a poor father figure that leads them to rejecting God.
@Leonardaisfunny In the liberal mind, simulations of sex are no different from actual sex. Masturbation and sodomy are not sex, but simulations of sex. Libs don’t like definitions, because definitions are necessarily limiting. “Definition” literally means to make finite.
Ed Gallrein’s victory in KY and Clay Fuller’s win in GA ensures two outspoken pro-Israel voices are positioned to fill seats previously held by outspoken detractors, Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Our community was proud to help pro-Israel candidates win these races.
