⚽️ Players:
Look, I know you want to be wooed, chased after & wanted by a #CollegeSoccer coach
You should want that!
And I get it! 💯 I wanted that too
End of the day I had to just enroll a the school I wanted to go to & walk
Many of you just need to take the bull by the horns, make a decision, enroll & walk on too
There is no shame in being a walk on! None!
History is full of walk ons that ended up being superstars
If you’re gonna just wait around to be asked out instead of taking control?
You may not be going to the prom with a date

This is good. I always say that just because someone falls down doesn’t mean there’s a foul, or I’m letting advantage play on. The best is when parents are still yelling even after I blow the whistle and award the DFK. Calm. Down.
🧵 Some but not all of the differences & resulting outcomes in college recruiting for men’s & women’s ⚽️.
Male 🇺🇸 keepers are far less in demand (there is a surplus) than female 🇺🇸 keepers of which there is a shortage.
🇺🇸 Women’s & girls soccer is currently the best in the world
🇺🇸 Men & boys are not & have never been
Men often keep growing physical by 20-22.
Women often stop growing physically by 15-17.
Approximately 30% of all male players in the NCAA ⚽️ are Internationals while it’s only 12% on the female side.
There are approximately 300 more Women’s ⚽️ teams across all divisions than there are men’s.
There are millions of more athletic scholarship available for Women’s ⚽️ players than for mens ⚽️ players.
Many men’s ⚽️ coaches wait to fill key roster spots until early spring when Intenational full pro academy players are released from their clubs.
This is rarely seen in the women’s game, just not as much💰 at stake.
There is a large surplus of male ⚽️players worldwide (I’d go so far as to call it a excess), while on the Women’s side there is a true shortage.
In my experience, it’s largely because girls are generally being far pickier than boys in their pathways & many tend to be prioritizing other things over ⚽️, when push comes to shove.
There are many more internationals on the mens side playing NAIA, JC & lower DII levels, many take years 3 & 4 to move up to higher level DII’s & all levels DI, that this heavily affects male 🇺🇸 freshmen recruiting.
We don’t see the same impact on the Women’s side, we see, many if not most 🇺🇸 girls & scorn any JC & NAIA’s & many DIII’s, which leaves a void at those levels.
Male 🇺🇸 players do this too, but not in the same ratio as on the women’s side.
On the Women’s side of JC & NAIA, DII & DIII’s (no scholarships), many Women’s ⚽️teams across the nation are carrying rosters of 15 or less & quite a few games are played with less than 11 women on the field & scholarships are left unclaimed.
We rarely see this on the mens side

Got a number of D1 opportunities for a female 2023 GK that can be a 1 or 2 immediately.
One is a full ride for a starter
Lots of other Wsoc coaches are looking for keepers
DM’s are open
That was me as a parent.
When scouting, I’ll start in the corner & if there are interesting players, I’ll go by the parents for a while.
I can usually tell who belongs to which kid when the parents are having a psychotic break while screaming incessantly.
Now I know which kids parents might cause a problem for coaches at the next level.
I know which players to avoid.
Sad for the kids who might miss out, but their parents often cause so much drama that it’s all not worth it for a college coach.
When you see a sports parent sitting alone at their kid’s game it doesn’t always mean they’re antisocial . It often means they’re intentionally staying away from the drama and trash-talk happening among other sports parents! 😬
