The San Francisco Civil Grand Jury published a report raising the alarm about the crisis in the San Francisco County Jails.
The facilities are dangerously overcrowded. It's at the point where the Sheriff’s Office is struggling to meet its legal obligations to people in custody, including providing the space for exercise and adequate medical care. Many have acute mental health needs that require immediate care. Staff are stretched thin, with some working more than 100 hours a week.
Civil Grand Juries are government oversight panels made up of volunteers from the community. They don’t have enforcement power, but they play an important role in bringing attention to critical issues in our cities.

What's the perfect tech stack for a solo or boutique law firm? Our latest tool, HeyCounsel Pulse, gives some clarity. Here's a few nuggets from our Solo & Small Firm Tech Stack Report:
1. Lawyers are pretty pleased with AI. Claude is the most-used tool in the entire report. 84% of the lawyers we surveyed use it, and they rate it 4.5 out of 5 in terms of satisfaction. I guess everyone is "AI-native" now...
2. Clio still runs the back office. It's the most-used tool for practice management, billing, and timekeeping (roughly half the market in each), but it rates a middling 3.8. Point solutions have better ratings, but cover less ground.
3. Does Westlaw still run the table on research? Not exactly. Claude actually leads on adoption now (36% to Westlaw's 31%), and GC AI (23%) quietly tops the satisfaction scores at 4.7, but with less adoption in that category.
4. Many are still taking meeting notes manually (30%), though AI note-takers like Granola, Fathom and Zoom AI are catching up fast.
5. Nearly 1 in 3 firms still run client intake on a spreadsheet. It's the biggest tech gap we found.
6. Lawyers are building their own software now. The "vibe coding" category was led by Claude Code (73%), in a category that barely existed a year ago.
7. Dropbox Sign earned the lowest rating in the entire survey (2.5), and our report suggests some alternatives for lawyers who are fed up.
8. Most-loved, least-used: Mercury for banking. A perfect 5.0 at just 12% adoption. GC AI is also deemed a "Hidden Gem" for its 4.7 score for Legal Research.

I got married this past weekend so I did what any rational @AnthropicAI employee would do and had Claude Code analyze 12 years of iMessages with my wife, then Claude Design used that data to whip up a website for our guests in just minutes.
On April 21, we challenged lawyers from all over the world to spend an afternoon building real, production-ready skills with Claude Cowork.
5 hours. 200+ lawyers. 10+ countries. 13 completed projects producing new legal AI skills.
Every skill is live on our showcase site at https://t.co/mpsRkvHmKY
Less than a week out. Four designers with something to say— come hear it.
Open Tab is a series of short talks on what designers are actually thinking about right now. Intimate, geared toward product designers, but really just a good excuse to get good people in a room. 🧡
