It is rigorous to change one's mind in one direction, not both. Some pple I thought were legit turned out to be frauds (@Snowden,@ggreenwald), but no fraud turned out to be legit.
Same with ideas, investments (bitcoin), etc.
This is similar to Popperian falsification.
