The scandals under the UCP continue to mount. It looks like the methodology used to disqualify the Water Not Coal petition was deeply flawed. How can we possibly have trust in Elections Alberta to run the next election? Sadly, that may be the UCP’s goal. https://t.co/TCad1sFR4c
Happy Canada Day, friends🧡! Posting this important video to mark the day and celebrate. It brings together Indigenous cultures and the cultures of people who have been settled here for a long time and those who arrived more recently—showing love, harmony, and unity among all when we create something beautiful together.
#Map arranges the world by land use. All freshwater adds up to #Mongolia. We use up all the Americas for our #livestock. This is one of the best maps I've ever seen. Informative, original and thought provoking. Source: https://t.co/WPlr3GPmPO
Pierre Poilievre is out here defending Cowboys/Penny Lane Entertainment against “City Hall gatekeepers” in Calgary’s noise bylaw fight.
What he’s not mentioning: Penny Lane just registered Jenni Byrne + Associates to lobby Alberta’s Municipal Affairs ministry, Legislative Assembly, and the Premier’s Office. Filed June 24. He posted June 25.
The designated filer is Simon Jefferies. Same guy who is senior VP at JB+A, senior VP at the linked firm Forecheck Strategies, and currently a Conservative Party spokesperson.
Penny Lane already has a decade-long naming deal with the city for what’s now Cowboys Park, a deal that’s drawn its own criticism for lack of transparency.
To be clear on what’s confirmed vs not: the Jefferies overlap is documented fact. Whether Byrne personally directed this filing, or whether Poilievre’s team knew about it before he posted, isn’t established. The timing is one day apart and worth asking about, not proof of coordination.
Calgarians deserve to know who’s actually pushing this, not just hear “city hall is killing jobs.”
@sarahbyyc I appreciated seeing this on the front door of my condo building yesterday (despite Cowboys and the Whiskey Rose tents being the ones I can hear quiet easily, not Badlands)
Jenni Byrne + Associates, the company owned by Poilievre's campaign manager Jenni Byrne, is a registered lobbyist for Penny Lane Entertainment, the company that owns Cowboys.
Albertans deserve to know exactly what some of the leading voices behind separation are advocating: mandatory military service, citizenship based on birthplace, and a vision of society that belongs in the past.
At a time when Calgary is attracting talent, investment, and opportunity from across Canada and around the world, the provincial referendum decision is giving oxygen to a movement that creates uncertainty, division, and risk.
Our city needs more homes, more jobs, more infrastructure, and stronger ties with the rest of Canada and the world. Instead, we're being dragged into a debate that threatens investment, undermines confidence, and distracts from the real challenges facing Albertans.
Calgary's future is as a growing, confident Canadian city. We must be focused on building that future, not legitimizing a movement that puts it at risk.
You HAVE to watch this clip!!!!
The UCP released a statement on the referendum committee before the committee was even done!
Seriously, watch this clip!
This is the UCP's "democracy" in action.
This is beyond the pale!
