Today, in Mathare Sub-county, young people are breaking their silence on the daily injustices affecting their lives and communities.

🔴Health facilities lack essential drugs.
🔴Gender desks failing survivors because bribes matter more than justice.
🔴Youth face illegal arrests without cause.
🔴Some duty bearers demand sexual favors (sextortion) in exchange for basic services.
🔴Streets remain dark and dangerous without basic infrastructure like lighting.

These youth are organizing and refusing to accept governance that fails them.

Over the past two days, we participated in an inception meeting that brought together @UNDPKenya and partners to establish a shared vision and strategic roadmap for phase II of Kenya's Youth Civic Engagement Initiative.

This collaborative approach ensures we are aligned on meaningfully centering youth and marginalized voices in governance processes.

In Kenya🇰🇪, young people represent the majority of the population, yet their voices🗣 often remain on the margins of decision-making. This initiative recognizes that sustainable♻️ democracy requires their active participation. It will also scale up @zKE_Official, an innovative civic tech platform.🤳🏾

Democracy works best when every voice is heard and counted. This partnership represents our shared commitment to putting young people at the center of decisions that shape their future.✊🏿
