Today I went to see the place that Israel bombed in Ain al Mreisse in Beirut on Wednesday. It's in a street I love and take often. I'm not a spring chicken yet I felt something deep and new looking at the details i.e. that I was in the physical presence of pure evil... 1/n
Lebanese Red Cross chief warning of many dead and wounded, asking citizens to clear roads for ambulances. Hospitals are appealing for blood, all types. Strikes hit crowded residential areas in #Beirut. #lebanon
Apparently some people are not happy with the possibility of a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Yet insisting that a ceasefire MUST include Lebanon, regardless of the political outcomes it may entail, means recognizing the relief (however fleeting) it would bring to ONE MILLION displaced people and the rest of the population….
ارحموا الناس …
Susann Kassem's account of life for displaced southern Lebanese during the one-sided ceasefire in @meriponline is a sensitive record of the interregnum between 2 Israeli invasions. The state & much of society sacrificed a whole community to Israeli fire & de facto occupation. ⤵️
Five years ago, my son Isaac died in the #Beirutblast
For the past 5yrs, for 1,826 nights, I have been learning how to cope with the grief, while also learning how to live again.
I miss Isaac desperately &wrote some words about what it is like 5 years on

We’ve been truely thick… unable to understand the obvious. but it’s dawning on me. so let me explain:
They dont have to be careful what they do, who they kill or what they destroy,
but we have to be very very careful what we say about it.
we live in societies that care more
Wow. Witnessing Palestinians walking and returning to what remains of their homes in northern Gaza, is the beginning of the undoing of the structure and process of the ongoing Nakba. May all Palestinians get their right to return and liberation from Zionist occupation.
“Any serious revolutionary political project in Lebanon cannot, and should not, dissociate itself from the plight of both the Palestinian and Syrian people—rather than the Palestinian and Syrian regimes—for liberation, freedom and dignity.”
Hey y'all! We've just put up an interview by @ShireenNajla with @rima_majed on the Israeli-Lebanese ceasefire and the future of popular resistance in Lebanon.

A friend on Syria: Syrians have already gone through everything Iraqis, Egyptians & Libyans experienced: dictators, disappearances, Isis, imprisonment, beheadings, corruption, displacement. They've already lived through all the "fears" so this moment, is their moment of hope.
Heartbreaking. I watched this interview years ago and Mazen’s face and pain have stayed with me since as vivid indexes of the Assad regime’s savagery. How cruel that he was so violently deprived of the justice he ached for.
