Zahir jaffer still alive and not being extra judicially killed by CCD is what's wrong with CCD encounters. Because they don't work against rich and powerful.
Extrajudicial killing is the very opposite of justice. It is a complete failure of those institutions created to uphold the law. No one should rejoice in this.

Eight billion people have witnessed images and reports of abuses against Palestinian detainees, ranging from torture and mistreatment to deaths in custody.
Yet those accused of these acts continue to enjoy freedom of movement and political protection,
while institutions seeking accountability may themselves face pressure and sanctions.
Protesters in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province clashed with police over the imposition of governor’s rule, citing the local government’s alleged failure to crack down on Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan fighters. Police fired on protesters, injuring at least five people.
The way he is announcing this imposed council sounds like a CEO of a company is announcing his private team. 40 million people of a province are being told who will govern them through a press conference in Islamabad. #Sharamnak
🇵🇰 “A Coup Dissguised as Emergency": Pakistan suspends Imran Khan's party's provincial government
President Asif Ali Zardari declared a state of emergency on Sunday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a northwestern province bordering Afghanistan and the only one governed by Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The order removed its chief minister and cabinet, and a federally appointed governor will run the province for an initial six months. Islamabad accuses the provincial government of failing to confront militant attacks.
The move came a week into a PTI march on Islamabad demanding Khan's release. The army was authorized to deploy across the province, and phone and internet service was cut in the provincial capital, Peshawar, and in Swabi, according to local media.
PTI says ousted Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has been detained. A party spokesperson called the move "a coup disguised as emergency."
We need to engage in honest introspection about Pakistan's history. Many commentators trace the country's political troubles to Ayub Khan, others to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Yet the conflict between central government and provinces or regions dates back to the very founding of Pakistan in 1947.
The princely state of Kalat, whose ruler asserted its independence in August 1947, acceded to Pakistan in March 1948 under circumstances that remain contested. Some historians maintain that the accession was secured through coercion rather than freely negotiated consent.
On 22 August 1947, just eight days after independence, Governor-General Muhammad Ali Jinnah dismissed the elected Congress-affiliated government of Dr Khan Sahib in the North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), despite its majority in the provincial assembly. It was replaced by a Muslim League ministry headed by Abdul Qayyum Khan.
In Sindh, Muhammad Ayub Khuhro, who had become chief minister shortly before independence and continued in office thereafter, was dismissed on 26 April 1948. The central government's subsequent decision to separate Karachi from Sindh and place it under federal administration, formalised in July 1948, provoked strong opposition from Sindh's political leadership and provincial legislature. Karachi had already been designated Pakistan's capital in 1947; the controversy in 1948 concerned its separation from Sindh and transfer to federal control.
The alienation of East Bengal began equally early. In February 1948, Dhirendranath Datta, a Bengali member of Pakistan's Constituent Assembly, proposed that Bengali be recognised alongside Urdu and English for use in the Assembly, pointing out that Bengali was the language of the majority of Pakistan's population. Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan opposed the proposal, which was rejected. The following month, during his visit to Dhaka, Jinnah declared that Urdu alone would be Pakistan's state language. Addressing a public gathering on 21 March 1948, he warned: "If anyone tries to mislead you in this regard, he is really the enemy of Pakistan."
These were not isolated episodes. Within the first year of independence, the central government had dismissed elected provincial ministries, overridden provincial objections, contested the autonomy of a princely state and rejected the linguistic aspirations of the country's demographic majority. The tensions between centralisation, representative government and provincial rights were therefore embedded in Pakistan's political order long before its first military coup in 1958. Very few writers in Pakistan get this right.
🇵🇰 Pakistan's Peshawar is under a major security lockdown, with roads blocked, mobile networks disrupted, and the provincial chief minister cut off from outside communication.
Authorities have sealed off the city's heavily secured Red Zone, placing shipping containers across major roads and highways.
Reports indicate that electricity, telephone and internet connections to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi's residence have been disrupted, potentially leaving him and his associates unable to communicate with the outside world.
Security is reportedly on high alert across the city, although the reason for the restrictions and the extent of the communications blackout remain unclear.
The lockdown comes as Sohail Afridi's PTI party, led by Imran Khan, alleges that ten of its lawmakers and provincial ministers have been abducted by unidentified armed men, raising further concerns about the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
