The Police received multiple calls on the tremors and explosions heard, especially in the Southern part of the island. The Police have established that the Singapore Armed Forces were conducting planned detonation activities on Pulau Senang earlier in the evening.
The benchmarks for ‘small’, ‘medium’, and ‘large’ effects for Cohen’s d are d = 0.2, d = 0.5, and d = 0.8, and for a correlation are r = 0.1, r = 0.3, and r = 0.5. Except they don't match. Converting d to r actually gives r's of .10, .24, and .37. The benchmarks are incoherent.
Each day this week I will drop some evidence-based knowledge on all things Panic Disorder (PD)
I'll address hot topics like: at what age is PD most likely to emerge, is PD more common in males or females?, what's the difference between panic attacks & PD & how is PD treated?
@laura_j_botzet I've heard this too. I think it occurs because people learn about the "no new arguments in the concluding paragraph of an essay" rule (e.g., https://t.co/UVUCfX1zQP), and they then erroneously apply that rule to the Discussion section of research reports.
Today a student told me that she learned in her scientific method course during her psy undergraduate program to not cite additional literature in the discussion but instead only use citations already mentioned in the theory section.
Is this really a rule? And if it is: why?! 🤷♀️
