@springsteen Tried and failed; had tickets ready to check out in my cart and got kicked out. I was ready to pay $300/ea for good seats that then skyrocketed to $2000+ in three minutes. Nosebleeds went from $60 to $600 in five minutes. Not okay.

Artists deserve to make a fair living from their work, yes, sure, but art and music are luxuries. I work in the music industry and my job is a non-essential luxury. If music is your chosen business field, expect to make NOOOO MONEY for a long time!!! Been there, done that!!!

Re: the tweet from a band being “transparent” about not making money at SXSW & people getting bashed in the comments for suggesting they “sleep in the van”? It is such a privilege to be able to GO on tour in the first place & break even or make ANY profit let alone afford hotels

Not even tryna pull some BACK IN MY DAY shit… If you have a booking agent and guarantees, you know how much $ you’re gonna make at your shows & assume you will make $0 more than that number. Budget your tour accordingly and you won’t be bummed when you don’t make a nice profit?

I don’t care at all about a band that can’t afford a 5 day long stay at an Air BnB when so many people can’t afford to live comfortably while working a grueling job they hate with no time to pursue art. Many of you are out of touch with reality & the working class.
