Reminder that you’re a fucking wolf.
Everyone has shit going on, and life is hard for everybody.
The sooner we can accept that, the sooner we can realize it’s about how we respond.
One of the things about hitting that makes it so unique (and ultimately so emotional)…
If you’ve ever gone 4-for-4 in your life (or even just hit 4 barrels in a game), you start to believe that you’re good. In a lot of ways, you start to believe that you can do it over and over again. You forget to realize that the circumstances around that 4-hit game mattered as much as the swings you took that day.
Every inch of that day. Every seemingly insignificant moment - they all led to the perfect storm - that make you believe that you are ‘that good,’ and should be able to will yourself back to that place.
No matter what shape and size you are, you start to believe that the one moment of greatness, gives you the right to be that good all the time. That it makes you just as good, if not better, than the guy on the other side of the field that everyone is saying is better than you.
See here’s the thing - to be great in baseball - it’s not about how good you can be when you’re at your best. It’s about how good you can be at your worst. Everyone is capable of the 4-for-4. Not many are capable of turning their 0-for-4’s into 1-for-4’s, when the game is telling them they shouldn’t be.
both devin chandler and lavel davis were my students. devin was in my class in spring 2022, and lavel is in my class this semester. I am so indescribably sad right now but I wanted to share a few memories of them, because they were wonderful people
Thank you all who were apart of the journey. You’ll never know how much it means to me.
It’s a lengthy post, but it’s just a grain of sand in comparison to the full chapter…One that’s tough to close, but one I’m forever grateful for.
The story continues.
Thank you #baseball.
Excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Tulane University! I would like to thank God, my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for supporting and shaping me to be the player and person I am today!
