In 2022, the Gibson family packed their bags with a clear vision: head to Ukraine and plant churches across Eastern Europe. But when the war broke out, their plans came to a sudden halt, leaving them to pray: “What now, Lord?”
That’s when God birthed a new burden, not to change their mission, but to change their destination.
He called them to the greater Washington, D.C. area to build a church that would reach the nations right here in North America. ⛪️
🙌 They launched Nations Church in 2024, and they recently celebrated their 10th baptism!
Only God can take our disrupted plans and turn them into a display of His glory. Join us in celebrating the Gibson family and the incredible work happening in D.C.! 👏
@bartbarber She is a local celebrity in Fort Collins. I occasionally see her around town and she's always very kind and gracious to people. She no doubt changed the cattle industry.
Leander spent years not believing.
But God began to work—
through family, friends, and the local church.
On launch Sunday,
he took his next step of obedience—
baptism.
Leading up to launch, Overland North
embraced the missionary task ⬇️
Their core team engaged their city.
Not waiting for a crowd,
but reaching their neighbors.
Their sending church sent help.
Students came to assist with door hangers in surrounding neighborhoods.
This has resulted in a new gospel outpost
in Fort Collins, Colorado.
🙏 Pray with us that many more “Leanders”
would entrust their lives to Christ our Savior
because of new churches like this.
@JNHelvoigt@DavidSchrock@drandrewhebert I'm in Colorado too. The real play that is happening is trying to keep the SBC voter base in the SE. I think it should move all over the country because the SBC is all over the country.
@JNHelvoigt You missed my point. I'm saying there isn't much of a difference in price for guys in the southeast whether they drive or fly. The cost is only the difference in a plane ticket and mileage reimbursement... and it might be higher. All other costs are the same. Hotel, food, etc.
@johnnynixjr@maseballard It's not about affordability. It's about votes and voter base. This isn't changing the cost for most churches. If pastor drives in instead of flying in and the church pays mileage the savings will be minimal. All other costs are the same.
@DavidSchrock@drandrewhebert What do you think the cost difference is for the convention for someone who drives in 500 miles vs someone who flies? All other cost will be the same. If the church reimburses the pastors mileage it's $720 round trip. #nothingburger
What should Christians do when their company violates biblical values?
@ZackThurman and I tackle this real challenge facing so many believers in the marketplace today. [Full episode in thread.]
This Sunday, we’re commissioning and sending out Overland Church North Fort Collins.
Even though it’s just across town, planting this new church means it’s time for some gospel goodbyes.
