Nigerian leadership need to understand this principle for there to be meaningful national progress. We have so many bad CEOs
President/Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, on Wednesday, 20 May, 2026 hosted Chairman of First HoldCo Group, Olufemi Otedola, alongside senior executives, at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals.
More than a visit, the engagement reflects the growing alignment between Africa’s industrial and financial leadership around a shared belief, that the continent’s future must be built on production, infrastructure, energy security, and long-term investment in African capacity.
As one of the largest industrial projects on the continent, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals stands as a symbol of what is possible when ambition is matched with execution at scale. It continues to attract strategic interest from institutions and business leaders committed to strengthening regional self-sufficiency, driving industrial growth, and reshaping Africa’s economic future from within.

@AlikoDangote is a role model I have always admired. Very determined, ambitious, patriotic, humble and focused. May Allah continue to keep him for the benefit of the whole of Africa and especially Nigeria where he has already invested so much.
@fkeyamo Hon. Minister, I think you should also consider an option for a digital account without the need for the card. This will get more people faster than spending money producing cards that can be misplaced or damaged.

Kano Hackathon: Where Ideas Met Belief and Action Followed
On Monday in Kano was more than a hackathon. It was a clear statement of intent.
For the first time here, young entrepreneurs pitching bold ideas in renewable energy, fintech, and logistics weren’t just applauded, they were funded. Grants were handed directly to innovators whose ideas showed real potential to solve real problems.
Listening to these founders was a powerful reminder that innovation doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. It grows from constraint, curiosity, and courage. Many of these ideas were shaped in small rooms, refined through late nights and repeated failure, yet they stood tall when it mattered.
The Kano Hackathon reaffirmed a simple truth for me and that is, when we back ideas early, we don’t just create startups we create jobs, confidence, and real pathways to growth.
On a personal note, moments like this always bring me back to my own journey of service. I remain deeply grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the trust placed in me to serve our nation, and to the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, whose recommendation for my appointment, without knowing me personally, reinforced my belief that merit, integrity, and capacity still matter.
That same spirit of belief was extended to the entrepreneurs we supported in Kano.
To the beneficiaries, this is not a finish line. It is a responsibility. Go and build. Go and test your ideas against the market. Go and justify the confidence placed in you.
To our partners, mentors, and organisers, I thank you for proving that innovation thrives when public leadership, private support, and youthful ambition come together.
Nigeria’s future will not be imported. It will be designed, tested, and built by Nigerians, one bold idea at a time.

Thank you @abbaaliyu_ for your leadership in transforming the energy landscape in Nigeria. With the development of young Nigerian's capacity in the space, we are assured of a more sustainable future. All of us @Premplusltd are proud to be associated with your achievements.
One of the most important parts of building a sustainable energy sector is building the people who will run it.
Through the NextGen RESCO programme, we’re seeing young Nigerians gain hands on experience across different energy companies, not in classrooms alone, but on real projects, with real responsibility. Here are photos and videos of Next Genners in Premplus, Startimes and Treznergy, these Next Genners are learning how power systems are designed, deployed, operated, and maintained, while contributing meaningfully to the companies they’ve been posted to.
Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of speaking at the PwC Annual Power & Utilities Roundtable 2025, one of the industry’s most enduring knowledge platforms, now in its 16th year. This forum continues to bring together regulators, government agencies, utilities, financiers, investors, development partners, and private sector leaders to shape the future of Nigeria’s electricity landscape.
With the Honourable Minister of Power in attendance, this year’s theme, “Nigeria’s Multi-Tier Electricity Market: Imperatives for Successful Evolution” could not have been more timely.
I delivered a keynote presentation on “Renewables and meeting Nigeria’s electrification targets: Factors hindering the rapid advancement of large scale renewable generation projects.”
It was an important opportunity to highlight the realities, the gaps, and the pathways we must strengthen to unlock scale, accelerate deployment, and position renewables at the centre of Nigeria’s electrification drive.
My appreciation to PwC and all participating stakeholders for sustaining this powerful platform for dialogue, alignment, and actionable sector reform.

As part of our deepening commitment to sustainability and human capital development under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) Phase II, I am pleased to share an important update on the ongoing technical trainings across participating universities.
Across the EEP II project sites, about 100 students have now completed hands-on technical training in solar-PV design, installation, operations, safety and maintenance in the following institutions:
• University of Gashua – 1.5 MW (completed)
• University of Calabar & Teaching Hospital – 7 MW (completed)
• Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike – 3 MW (completed)
• University of Maiduguri – 12 MW (completed)
• Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) – 3 MW (completed)
• Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) – 2.5 MW (currently ongoing)
Yesterday, I joined the teams at Bayero University Kano (BUK) and the Dala Orthopedic Hospital for the groundbreaking ceremonies of the National Public Sector Solarization Initiative (NPSSI), a programme that represents a bold step toward transforming how our public institutions are powered.
A new phase has begun in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector as the Managing Director of @TheREANigeria, @abbaaliyu_, implements the “Nigeria First” directive of President @officialABAT and the Honourable Minister of Power @federal_power@BayoAdelabu, with a renewed focus on supporting and prioritizing local firms.
Under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP), currently active in 37 universities across the country, the existing Workshop & Training Centres are being upgraded into a world-class National Energy Innovation Hub.
This transformation will enhance capacity-building, technology adoption, and hands-on training in critical clean energy areas.
To actualize this vision, @TheREANigeria has signed an MoU with local firm PREMPLUS LTD under a strategic public–private partnership.
The collaboration will reposition the facilities into a fully functional hub for training, innovation, technology demonstration, and entrepreneurship in solar systems, mini-grids, battery technologies, and energy-efficiency solutions.
PREMPLUS, already involved in the national Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) framework under @NigEducation, brings additional value through its technical partnership with Brunei University, London.
According to MD @abbaaliyu_, the partnership “presents a unique opportunity to deepen Nigeria’s clean energy talent pipeline while strengthening innovation, research, and enterprise support.”
With the leadership of MD PREMPLUS @zadeenus, this upgrade is poised to deliver significant benefits to students, lecturers, and non-academic staff across the participating institutions.
A stronger, more innovative renewable energy ecosystem for Nigeria is on the horizon.

Earlier today, we held the Borno State Roundtable, a timely and productive follow up to my recent visit to His Excellency, the Governor of Borno State. That first engagement opening the door to today’s roundtable is how we continue the work.
These conversations are already proving their value. Every state we sit with helps refine our approach, deepen our understanding of local needs, and strengthen the partnerships required to deliver real energy solutions where they matter most. For Borno, this means aligning clean energy interventions with ongoing reconstruction efforts, improving resilience for communities, and supporting livelihoods across the state.
Our goal remains the same and that is a coordinated, state-led pathway to affordable, reliable, sustainable power, one roundtable, one partnership, and one community at a time.
