Through the NextGen RESCO programme, we’re seeing young Nigerians gain hands on experience across different energy companies, not in classrooms alone, but on real projects, with real responsibility. PRESS RELEASE: Premplus, REA sign strategic MoU to establish a National Energy Innovation Hub, targets new benchmark for technical skills development in Nigeria

On Friday the 14th of November 2025, Premplus Limited, an indigenous Renewable Energy Service Company officially signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to upgrade and optimize the world-class Energizing Education Programme (EEP) Workshop and Training Centre across select Federal Universities into a world-class National Energy Innovation Hub. This strategic partnership marks a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s renewable energy innovation ecosystem and building a highly skilled clean energy workforce across the States.

The signing ceremony, held at the REA Headquarters in Abuja, formalized a unique public-private partnership designed to accelerate technical skills acquisition, applied research, and enterprise development in the clean energy sector. Under the MoU, Premplus Ltd. will collaborate closely with REA to reposition the existing facilities into a fully functional hub that will support training, innovation, technology demonstration, and entrepreneurship in solar, mini-grid, battery storage, and energy efficiency solutions.

On Friday, I had the privilege of signing two landmark MoUs that speak directly to the future we are building at the Rural Electrification Agency a future anchored in innovation, skills, and sustainable impact.

First, with Premplus Limited, we are set to transform 15 of the REA’s Workshop & Training Centres across Nigeria into National Energy Innovation Hubs.

These hubs will become living ecosystems, places where young minds will be trained, ideas will be tested, and communities will be empowered to create the next wave of homegrown energy solutions. This is how we build capacity not just for today, but for the Nigeria we want to see in the decades ahead.

We also signed an MoU with ME Renewable Energy & Instrumentation Ltd. to establish a strategic collaboration focused on scaling sustainable, decentralized clean energy solutions across unserved and underserved communities. This partnership strengthens our push to expand energy access through models that are efficient, resilient, and community centered.

In my opinion, both MoUs reflect one truth and that is that Nigeria’s clean energy transition is moving from intention to implementation and we are bringing the right partners along with us.
