@eevblog Wasn't the dumb trope that the billionaires would leave? Will their wealth get redistributed so fast they have to rent U-hauls and move themselves? Sounds good.
@cornoisseur 15mph speed limit in the Netherlands and above that banned on cycle paths and regulated more like cars. Probably appropriate there to protect their safe cycling infrastructure. Here what’s the point?
🚶♂️ Game-Changer: #London🇬🇧 Is Reimagining Oxford Street
Mayor @SadiqKhan plans to pedestrianise 1.1 km from Oxford Circus to Marble Arch—transforming one of the world’s busiest (and most polluted) shopping streets into a vibrant, people-first space. 🧵
@UrbanCourtyard Often the city got it wrong, or the owner was already trying to sell or rent their place, or building permit apps were pending. I don’t really know what the macro effects were but on the micro level I saw a lot of small owners lose all their equity within a few short months.
@UrbanCourtyard A property would get reclassified from .85% annually to 5% annually, and their escrow payments on their mortgages would usually be the first thing they would notice. If they didn’t have the extra cash their property would be facing foreclosure very quickly.
@ZakPatterson As a nearby resident I really hope we do this permanently. It won’t be the end of the world
To close off one little tiny road in our city of endless roads. and it will make this plaza so much better than it already is.
This feels special to me. I don’t know how else to say it. Lincoln Square is standing on the precipice of something great. I hope the right people realize it.

@Marathonpundit You think we can handle more cars on our streets? You think the city would be better if every new person moving into the city had to bring a car? What if the population increased by 10%? Would you be happy with traffic increasing by 10%?
Full Disclosure: I’m a transplant in this city, but I have never understood why cars were allowed to drive through a square…parking there feels like an obstacle course of death.
