@TrulyAmFromMars Honestly it's not bad. Every take I've seen is that ppl hate the amnesia while neglecting all the very silly dandadan things that still make it entertaining (i.e. freaky wackjob villians)
@von_dienstmann@Hammerli280@the_engi_nerd If you wanna know abt that team (which doesn't exist anymore), read Irv Waaland's interview from 2010. If you want to know abt the NG leading to the present, Michael Ciminera's book is a good glimpse.
@uckema@VADave649 Wdym lack of energy for directed? There's a whole space dedicated to the lift-fan that can be retrofitted (albeit at the cost of range, yes). It was originally designed with that in mind.
@ron_eisele Gorgeous plane but the Macci MC-72 had gone nearly 100 mph faster 4 years earlier. The H-1's landplane record was quite possibly the least impressive landplane record in all of aviation history!
@AmericanKaiser3@heatloss1986 Of course speed and noise matter as well.
Are you still trying to tell me that 3 engines are more efficient than two?
I'm assuming you're not super familiar with aircraft, and I'd be down to explain it if you're willing to accept that you might not be right.
@AmericanKaiser3@heatloss1986 Supercruise allows for FASTER cruise, but not more efficient. A supersonic aircraft will always be making far more drag than a subsonic one due to wave drag. Moreover, the F-35 has a greater range than the F-22 on a very similar fuel load. That is what efficiency means.
@AmericanKaiser3@heatloss1986 this is how ik you're ignorant because there is no world where two engines provide better fuel efficiency than one
Why do you think 3 engine airliners went out of style? If you'd like to walk through the math, we can do that too
@AmericanKaiser3@heatloss1986 single engine is peak efficiency, beautiful for that alone
Plus the shaping from the wing root to fuselage is so gorgeous, you're not gonna get that with a twin design
