"Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what they do." (Surah an-Nur 24:30)
fajr reflection today.
one of the subtle lessons from this verse...some people think being firm in faith means you should never feel overwhelmed by your trials. but a person can believe in Allāh’s promise (of ease) and still feel the weight of what they are going through.
you can be patient and still cry. you can trust Allāh and still ask how much longer.
حَتَّى يَقُولَ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُ مَتَى نَصْرُ اللَّهِ
they were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When will the help of Allah come?"
they were believers, and they were shaken. we should remember this when judging ourselves, and when speaking to people whose struggles we've never had to bear.
It may be that your tests are great because the blessings Allah wants you to have are great too.
When tests are great the blessings that will come with it are too.
Imam al-Shafli رحمه الله said:
"Not everyone you love will love you, nor will everyone you are sincere with be sincere with you."
[ديوان الإمام الشافعي]
"one of the signs of love is that all their worries and sorrows disappear when they see or visit the one they love, but return as soon as they part from one another."
Whatever kind of good deeds you do, do not become amazed with your own actions,
for your deeds are quite small in comparison to Allah's right over you.
[Sharh Riyadh al-Saliheen 1/575]
... And do you know what is even scarier? When things keep going smoothly for you, ergo, luring you into a sense of security that you don't need guidance anymore.
Your heart becomes blackened akin to soots from Mount Vesuvius.
