@Enioluwa For me, that immersion make me remember the details. I walk every scene with the characters, smell every fragrance they smell and even feel my heart pound when they fear. So the details often come back to me like a well-remembered dream.

I read novels for entertainment. I’m not trying to memorise anything, and once I put the book down, most of the details fade away.😅

Ask me what happened a day later, and there’s a good chance I won’t remember. But while I’m reading it, I’m completely immersed; that enjoyment is what matters to me.

When I was a junior resident,my husband had Gastroenteritis

I started him on IV fluids, yet he kept pouring.

By the 12th episode of stooling, his veins had collapsed, his pulse was faint.

Funnily, I was on call that day so I brought him to the hospital

My consultant said "Wunmi, we're not physicians, don't manage Gastroenteritis, take this boy to A and E", and he called the SR for me.

I'm glad I did cos he was already dehydrated. I was so overwhelmed that I forgot one tiny detail.

Once there is continuous loss, you replace volume for volume, use ORS if they can tolerate, and that's because I was being emotional.

You shouldn't be a doctor and a wife at the same time. If you can afford to let someone else treat him, that is ideal.

He was promptly resuscitated by the SR and discharged in 24 hours.

I'm always glad I called my consultant that day.
