White terrorists are leaving moose parts laying around, burning down buildings, assaulting Indigenous people, harassing land defenders and oh yeah, of course, sitting back in their roles as RCMP and OPP watching it all happening.
It’s so frustrating, as an historian of Indigenous-settler relations, to hear fellow settlers say that treaties give Indigenous peoples “special privileges.” Without those treaties, settlers wouldn’t have the “special privilege” of living here. We need more treaty education.
On the Globe and Mail home page right now: Indigenous woman killed by NB police; Inuit man hit by RCMP officer driving truck; family in BC wants answers into Indigenous man's death in RCMP custody. One day's snapshot

Yesterday, we received confirmation that students and recent graduates are not currently eligible for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit. This morning, I sent an updated email to federal ministers asking them to extend coverage to this group in need.
@YvonneHoussin Something that I’ve found comfort in is taking lessons from history and using it to call our governments to action. History has the power to act as a moral compass that can hold people in power to account. This knowledge is medicine.
