Eritreans have zero tolerance for any attempt to undermine Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Every inch of our land, airspace, and sea was liberated through decades of sacrifice and struggle. Our sovereignty was earned at a great cost—and it is not up for debate.
Africa Day commemorated in Asmara
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the African Group, commemorated the 63rd anniversary of Africa Day on 13 June at Asmara Palace Hotel under the theme “Africa: One Heart, One Land, One Destiny.” The event was attended by Ministers, senior Government and PFDJ officials, Ambassadors accredited to Eritrea, members of the diplomatic community, and other invited guests.
In his keynote address, Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that this year’s theme of the African Union is “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” He noted that the theme is not only timely but also fundamental.
Minister Osman went on to say that Africa Day is being celebrated in Eritrea under the theme “Africa: One Heart, One Land, One Destiny,” reflecting shared identity, collective memory, and values of solidarity, hospitality, and mutual support, and that the vision of an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the international arena, remains viable today.
Noting that the African people continue to suffer from poverty amid the enormous wealth of the continent, and that conflicts continue to ravage the continent, destroying lives, property, and opportunities, Minister Osman said it is imperative that the continent undertake a thorough evaluation of its current reality and craft strategies to extricate itself from poverty and conflicts, as well as to augment the integration and complementarity required for collective action.
Reiterating that the global order is changing, Minister Osman underlined that competition for resources and strategic partnerships is increasing, while global challenges such as climate stress, public health threats, and inequality require coordinated solutions.
In the midst of this transformation, Minister Osman stressed the importance of Africa, as a rich continent endowed with precious natural resources, managing those resources with integrity, discipline, and a shared long-term vision so that they can drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Mr. Percy Mbuzeli Kumsha, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Eritrea, for his part, underlined: “Africa Day is more than a commemoration; it is a reaffirmation of our collective journey, that we are bound by a common destiny. This is a golden opportunity for us to conduct continental introspection. That means we cannot act alone in this mission; we need smart partnerships.”
The event was preceded by various joint activities earlier in the week, including a panel discussion on “African Unity in the Changing Global Order” and a football match between the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a selected team from the African Embassies in #Eritrea.
This is @reda_getachew, co-author of the Al Jazeera article, who at the height of the #Tigray conflict vehemently rejected negotiations, declaring that “it is abominable to sit for negotiations with the @AbiyAhmedAli-led government & labeled Abiy a textbook example of treason.”😀

President Isaias Afwerki and his delegation made a tour of the new Administrative Capital in the Cairo Governorate and the various Public Service Pavilions and infrastructures under construction. Discussions centered on prospective areas of broad cooperation.
One of the most sinister and far-reaching acts of political treachery in modern Horn of #Africa history—a calculated conspiracy against the people of #Eritrea and #Tigray orchestrated by these three architects of an axis of evil—was ultimately foiled by the farsightedness, resilience, and leadership of Eritrea and Tigray in recent years.
Ximdo (ጽምዶ) is potent political inoculation of the people of the Horn of #Africa against any evil plan that aims to engage the people in a perpetual war. #Sudan #Ethiopia #Somalia #Djibouti #Egypt
President Isaias Afwerki and his host, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, held extensive talks in Cairo today on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual importance.
The two leaders agreed to deepen and elevate the historical and brotherly ties of friendship and cooperation that exist between the two countries to a higher level.
In this respect, President Isaias Afwerki and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi agreed on the launching of concrete programmes in the sectors of marine resources, development of port infrastructure, and maritime transport within the overall economic, political and diplomatic frameworks and agreements reached in the past.
The two leaders also discussed, in greater detail, the economic, political, diplomatic and security dimensions of developments and trends in the Red Sea, the Middle East, the Horn of Africa and other international matters of mutual interest.
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, subsequently discussed implementation details of the agendas outlined in the extensive consultations between the two Heads of State.

This week, Eritrea was elected by the UN General Assembly to serve in ECOSOC for two years; (2027 -2029).
This is indeed a normative event.
And, in any case, Eritrea has both the track record and requisite credentials in regard to the main pillars and pronounced objectives of ECOSCO, i.e. sustainable development, partnership and cooperation.
But, bewildering as it is, this seems to have rattled feckless Potemkin Party minions and hired foreign lobbyists beyond measure. Because it pokes another big hole in their manufactured narrative of portraying Eritrea in pejorative labels.
Eritrea's principled and robust positions/track-record on nurturing global and regional cooperation and partnerships on the basis of symmetry and political independence; its rejection of debilitating dependency and/or act as a surrogate and pliable errand boy for extraneous forces; its commitment to pursue sustainable development - that is anchored on social justice - through the judicious leveraging of its comparative and competitive advantages are otherwise too well-known to merit elaboration here.

Why is #Africa cursed with leaders like this? Uhuru Kenyata's net worth is estimated to be Half a Billion US dollars. The AU sent him to witness an election that puts even Idi Amin Baba to shame. And here is what he said early morning before #Ethiopians went to the ballot box.
