I attended and shared my thoughts at a consultative forum organized under the theme 'Social Development for Nation Building,' where major achievements in the social sector over the past years were presented.

Although social sector development, unlike other physical infrastructures does not yield immediate or tangible results, it lays a sustainable and critical foundation for the nation.

Despite current challenges, Ethiopia is being built at a rapid pace, faster than many realize. Even with our resource limitations, there is no social sector where improvement has not been attempted. However, since much work remains to translate our set goals into practice and ensure they achieve their purpose, we must stand together. Just as one hand cannot clap alone, the community must join in as a stakeholder alongside the government’s initiatives.

Ethiopia is a land of many heroes who have strengthened the country through generational continuity. The Special Operations Command of the Defense Forces, over the past 65 years, has carried out outstanding missions that have made Ethiopia proud, demonstrating unbreakable resilience through numerous challenges. Currently, through defense reform efforts, the command has been reorganized in a modern manner in terms of structure, manpower, and equipment, incorporating airborne, commando, and special counter-terrorism forces. It stands in a reliable position to carry out its duties effectively at any time and under any conditions.

As the command celebrated its 65th anniversary, it publicly showcased the modern military capabilities it has built, the readiness of its personnel, and its tactical proficiency. In particular, the integrated water-borne exercise shown today, as well as the various military skills demonstrated in coordination by airborne and commando members, confirmed the high level of capability of the armed forces.
