Bittersweet end to a satisfying tournament experience. But, I hit my goals and I feel decent about my level of play. Gotta continue being realistic about what’s possible with my amount of free time and level of energy. In my hobbies and in everything else.
So, long Twitter thread here. Funny story I’d like to get off my chest: I’ve been going through a weird sort of mid life crisis for the past year or so, prompted partly by (please don’t laugh at me for this) the release of Guilty Gear Strive.
So I entered the in-person tournament at our region’s anime con last year, and went 0-2. This year I entered again, and went 3-2. Just missed getting top 16! Felt like I played really well, up until I got tournament nerves and absolutely choked in my last set.
I hope #GGST sells really well. The franchise has always deserved more recognition than it ever got. Hopefully all the attention ArcSys got from the success of DBFZ makes this a success too.
Trying to process my thoughts on the #GGST beta. Went in so excited, had a blast for a couple days. But by the end of it, I think I hate it.
Got different complaints than the naysayers… but can’t shake the feeling that I’ve just gotten old, can’t find the fun in the new system
