What I liked about @SinkingStarGame demo:
Progression is knowledge gated.
After completing a puzzle, the feeling of "omg I can't believe I didn't get it sooner"
My order of sinking star puzzle tally (not including overworld, just the designated levels):
Hearty Heroes of Hauling - 39
Mirror Isles - 20
Promise - 1 megabonkers crazytown level
8 hours (gazing at sound and scenery included)
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Waiting for part 2 to come out this friday. Cheers.
Finished the the 2 parts to the Order of the Sinking Star demo at 8:12pm EST. I breezed through Heroes of Hauling because it happened to have several levels from Heroes of Sokoban and basically same mechanics. Mirror Isles with the multiplying hero and the magic stones was a surprise and great fun! Hadn't encountered this in a game before, I'm sure there will be more of this in the full game. ππ
I also enjoyed the controls, with a very responsive d-pad, a no-nonsense rewind, checkpoints, and sprint. Really makes these puzzles less of a chore, which I anticipate enables the design to present more complex puzzles without fatiguing the player!
The overworld is also rewindable and has reset points for the "meta-puzzles" which gives it a another fun level of play.
I'll play through the full game at a more relaxed pace once it comes out. Looking forward to the release π
@EutecticCrowds I don't remember that one.. but I remember that as soon as you killed a dude, you fail the room apparently.. so don't make too many dudes!
