At the beginning of February this year, we noticed through your company’s X account that you had deployed a contract on Web3 to create TIME COIN. You posted four consecutive tweets about this, but later deleted them all.
Many of us saw these tweets and assumed, as they suggested, that TIME magazine was entering Web3 as a new blockchain-based media platform. As a result, we purchased and traded the tokens. However, after the tweets were deleted for unknown reasons, the price collapsed, causing losses amounting to millions of dollars. To this day, there has been no response from your side.
We believe that your company’s X account should have a rigorous approval process and is unlikely to operate like some accounts that accept payment for posts, only to delete them later for others to profit. These kinds of tactics are continuously damaging the entire Web3 ecosystem, leading to countless losses.
As a mainstream media outlet, we believe TIME magazine should take this opportunity to observe and genuinely engage with the blockchain world. After all, events recorded on the blockchain are like history—irreversible and indelible. They only need someone to remind the world that they happened.
This, in our view, is the true role of the media: to investigate the truth and provide a platform for discussion. We kindly ask for your assistance in looking into this matter. Thank you.
