Starting a thread of my favorite #NYR highlights of recent years. Today’s is a spectacular Mika goal from early 2019 completing a phenomenal passing sequence started by two game veteran Adam Fox from behind his own net up to an in-stride Panarin. An early example of their chem.
@JosephDeLiso@NYRLouie I want to say that isn’t true, but I’m struggling to figure out a way to back it up. If he wasn’t winning more one on one or 50/50 pucks than he lost, that would show up in the numbers. I think he wins these situations more with his stick (and weirdo tape job) than with his body.
@JosephDeLiso@NYRLouie I remember one time Fox was defending AM34 behind the net. AM34 pushed off against the backboards and flung himself to the net front and slammed the puck in. That being said, there is a reason Fox has such good results. He makes great defensive plays constantly.
This is subjective but …
Name three PERFECT movies. No argument. No explanation. Just three flicks you think are perfect. Here's mine:
1) Sunset Boulevard
2) Meet Me in St. Louis
3) The Third Man
(I could do more...)
@DStarmanHockey Would love a Starman breakdown of my favorite goal of all time by Adam Fox curtesy of Artemi Panarin. I think this goal is unique in NHL history. You don’t often see a 2 on 5 goal.
“Enjoy the Silence” has become more profound.
The original had the clean, hypnotic rhythm of early 90s synth-pop. Years later, this live version retains the familiar electronic foundation, but the drums are stronger, the guitars more prominent, and Dave Gahan's vocals carry more weight.
What once sounded cold and distant now feels more authentic. The melody is still unmistakably Depeche Mode, but it no longer feels stuck in 1990. The band isn't trying to recreate the recording; they've made the song more captivating.
@NYRLouie Both are new to the team. Maybe with more reps the tendencies of their teammates will become second nature and their efficiency will improve. Probably takes time to just know what 12 different forwards will be doing at all times against tough competition.
