75 years ago my late father worked the local coal mines in England to supplement tuition fees. Never take independence for granted. Pakistan zindabad. #PakistanAt75
In Complaint No. 2 of 2026, nine PPL executives including current and former CEOs face criminal prosecution by FBR. Their alleged offence? Relying on a Petroleum Concession Agreement that FBR says they weren't entitled to rely on.
This is not a fraud case. Not a tax evasion scheme. But a legal interpretation dispute criminalised to browbeat.
And PPL is not some private operator. It is a GOP owned company. If this is how the state treats its own executives, what chance does the private sector stand?
Unfortunately, this is tax enforcement culture in Pakistan. Not revenue collection but corporate intimidation. No wonder it fails every year.
Senator Graham, the Pakistani Defence Minister stated the position of 57 Muslim nations & increasingly the world at large. The UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand & Norway have sanctioned Israeli ministers. Brazil recalled its ambassador. Bolivia severed ties completely
Chile & Colombia recalled theirs. Spain, Belgium & the Netherlands suspended arms sales. Pakistan isn't the outlier. We represent the international consensus. Try keeping up.
It has been apparent to me for quite a while that Pakistan as a mediator is more than problematic. Their animosity towards Israel is long standing.
It is undeniable that Iranian military aircraft are being housed on Pakistani air bases and past rhetoric from the highest Pakistani officials against Israel is disturbing.
As to the defense minister’s comments about the Abraham Accords, saying that Pakistan would never join because they don’t trust Israel: The clip may be a year old, but I fear the sentiment is fresh.
In that regard, it is imperative that Pakistan give an answer now to President Trump’s call to join the Abraham Accords.
Just watched a clip in which Dr. Ishrat Hussain claimed that the FBR had nearly 100 officers worth around $100 million each.
Even if only partly true, it reflects the enormous cost Pakistan has paid for decades of bad governance.
More alarming is the collapse of the very idea of public service. Large parts of the civil bureaucracy now appear less focused on governing the state and more on exploiting it.
For many, authority has become a route to wealth accumulation, influence peddling, and institutionalised plunder.
Pakistan does not just need economic reform. It needs a return to merit, integrity, and accountability. And that change must come from the top. A fish rots from the head.
Question is why would Israel make public the visit when UAE clearly does not want to acknowledge it? It suits Israel to tout the relationship but at the cost of burning UAE? https://t.co/1LHfRanekT
The deadly suicide bombings in Bannu and Lakki Marwat didn’t get even a fraction of the time this so-called Pinki “drug queen” of Karachi got on mainstream electronic media .

I have mixed feelings about the 7E verdict. Personally, it reduces my tax burden. Yet, it puts a big hole (estimated at Rs.80-120 billion a year) in the FBR’s annual tax collection and even greater liability if you account for refund claims. Big question now: Who will be squeezed to replace this annual 80-120 billion gap?
Do closing commercial activity earlier in night even helps? Yes.
Did a quick simulation, and closing commercial activity by 8pm saves you about PKR 40 billion, and by 10pm, it saves about PKR 20 billion.
If you are Karachi, you just lol and move on..

While US burns cash in the Persian Gulf and Russia bleeds in Ukraine, China is winning without firing a shot and delivering technology the world actually wants.
Read past the headline sourced from a single quote from a pro-India analyst. Take that out and the piece is a glowing account of Pakistan's emergence as an indispensable global mediator. Don't judge this one by its cover. Well done #Pakistan https://t.co/UuSgKXvZ1T
No reflection. No accountability. Just attack the messenger. Theek hai janab — if FIRs against executives and freezing accounts before establishing any tax liability is your blueprint for business confidence, good luck with that ease of doing business ranking. 🇵🇰
With reference to the tweet by an honorable member of the legal fraternity, whom FBR holds in high esteem, it is nevertheless necessary to respond to the baseless and uninformed allegations made therein. 1/11
FBR issued a CEO notice to explain tax on income never received. Same officer, same day — before any reply — issues a second notice accusing the CEO of making a false statement. Days later: FIR filed under Anti-Money Laundering law. Arrest sought. Bank accounts targeted. This is not due process. This is a shakedown. @FBRSpokesperson
Members of Iran’s Jewish community gathered at Yusef Abad Synagogue for prayers, saying the war should not be framed as a conflict against Jewish people
Stop amplifying a moment of friction. This is a trap laid by our enemies. Pak-UAE bond was built on the sweat & sacrifice of millions of workers. Wise leaders on both sides know the depth of this relationship. Don't let foreign agendas poison what our people bled to build. 🇵🇰❤️🇦🇪

The Serena Hotel, owned by the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, hosted the historic US-Iran negotiations in Islamabad. While most build for profit, the Aga Khan builds for humanity. A leader with a conscience. 🕊️ #IslamabadTalks
The Serena Islamabad is owned by the Aga Khan Development Network and is a part of the Serena Hotel Chain, His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan is hosting the summit with his compliments free of cost as his contribution towards world peace.
Let's not forget that the 2015 nuclear deal between US and Iran was the outcome of two years of negotiations. To expect that the Islamabad mediation would succeed in 24 Hours is unrealistic. After all even a cricket test match takes 5 days.
Vice President JD Vance gives an update in Pakistan:
"The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon."
Here is what Pakistan's insiders are saying:
Diplomacy is a marathon, not a sprint. Though the gap between the US and Iran remains wide, the critical takeaway is that the dialogue broken on Feb 28 has officially resumed in Pakistan. History shows these deals take years, not days.
Did you know that Iran has a Metro station dedicated to the Holy Mary?
Why is there a station dedicated to the Holy Mary in Iran, but no such station in London, New York, Paris, or Rome?
