🇦🇿 Bakı qlobal iqlim gündəliyinin mühüm platformasına çevrilir

7–11 sentyabr 2026-cı il tarixlərində Bakıda Azərbaycan Respublikasının ev sahibliyi və Xarici İşlər Nazirliyinin təşkilatçılığı ilə BMT-nin İqlim Dəyişmələri üzrə Çərçivə Konvensiyasının Dördüncü İqlim Həftəsi (CW4) keçiriləcək.

Eyni tarixlərdə Bakı İqlim Fəaliyyəti Həftəsi 2026 (BCAW 2026) də baş tutacaq. Tədbirlər iqlim qərarlarının praktiki icrası, beynəlxalq əməkdaşlıq və COP31 ərəfəsində iqlim fəaliyyətinin gücləndirilməsinə həsr olunacaq.

🇦🇿 Baku is becoming an important platform for the global climate agenda

From 7–11 September 2026, the Fourth UNFCCC Climate Week (CW4) will take place in Baku, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026) will take place on the same dates, focusing on practical climate action, international cooperation and advancing implementation ahead of COP31.

Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev today delivered Azerbaijan's national statement at COP30. In his remarks, he reflected on the historic outcomes achieved at COP29, reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to multilateralism, and confirmed that Azerbaijan will continue to work closely with all Parties to progress climate action, now that its COP29 Presidency has successfully concluded. He also outlined Azerbaijan's own ambitious climate actions. This includes Azerbaijan's new NDC, which brings forward its commitment to reduce emissions by 40% by 15 years, from 2050 to 2035. It also includes Azerbaijan's domestic, regional and global efforts to protect the Caspian Sea, and he reiterated Azerbaijan's call for the international community to rally around and support efforts to protect this vital resource. #COP29 #COP30

Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and COP29 Lead Negotiator, participated in an event titled “Accelerating Action on Grids and Storage: Planning, Finance, Principles and Policy Solutions” organized by IRENA, SBCOP, and the COP30 Presidency. In his remarks, Mr. Rafiyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s experience in driving the energy transition and strengthening regional cooperation, particularly efforts to expand green energy exports. He also emphasized the importance of the COP29 Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge as a key initiative to accelerate global progress in these sectors.

Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, COP29 Lead Negotiator and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, addressed a special event hosted by KOBIA in its HQs for the heads of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan to promote the endorsement of the Declaration on the Baku Climate Coalition for SMEs’ Green Transition. In his remarks, Deputy Minister highlighted the significance of SMEs in advancing sustainable consumption practices and contributing meaningfully to climate resilience. Mr. Rafiyev also recalled the BICFIT initiative of COP29 Presidency as a platform that plays a vital role in addressing barriers to finance, technology and knowledge for SMEs, empowering them to take a lead in green innovation and inclusive net-zero transitions.

The COP29 Presidency expressed their gratitude to the Government of Nepal for hosting the Sagarmatha Sambaad to address these important issues.

Another significant milestone achieved in 🇦🇿-🇳🇵 relations by the visit of H.E. Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, @COP29_AZ President and Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues, to Kathmandu on 16-18 May 2025 to attend the inaugural edition of the Sagarmatha Sambaad (Everest Dialogue) - a permanent global dialogue forum of the Government of Nepal. Along with an inspiring speech at the Opening Session and thought-provoking interventions in thematic panels, calls were made on Rt.Hon. Prime Minister H.E. KP Sharma Oli, Hon. Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Hon. Minister of Forests and Environment H.E. Mr. Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri. Important discussions on climate challenges, joint efforts and bilateral collaborations were also held with other stakeholders, including the Nepal Mountaineering Association and the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs.
