It’s funny seeing some K-pop fans call Thai artists “nugu” just because they’re unfamiliar with them, while acting shocked when they get recognition at fashion week. Some of y’all seem to forget that Southeast Asia played a significant role in spreading Hallyu back then. SEA fans weren’t just spectators, we helped K-dramas,K-varieties and K-pop reach wider audiences through fan communities, translations, online promotion & word of mouth.

And now, some of those same fans are also Thai enthu. The irony is that people who understand fandom culture somehow struggle to recognise that other industries can build their own influence, too.

As for claiming LO fans have no purchasing power just coz you personally haven’t seen them buying anything? Your TL is not market research. Different fandoms spend in different ways & your lack of awareness doesn’t mean a market doesn’t exist.

An artist being unknown to you doesn’t make them a nugu, and a fandom being outside your bubble doesn’t mean it has no influence or buying power. You don’t have to stan them, but at least acknowledge that the entertainment industry is bigger than your own fandom.
