@Quasilocal@Psycholosopher@Philip_Goff A religious person and a scientist may disagree in their interpretation of rituals because the scientist, having looked at it from the “outside” without the veil of tradition, gains a broader perspective.
@Quasilocal@Psycholosopher@Philip_Goff real methodological practices employed by scientists
A suitable analogy would be the difference between religion studies and theology (or religious practices).
If a scientific field doesn't use a lot of math, it's unlikely to be because everybody in that field is stupid. It's much more likely because mathematics is not a very effective tool for solving the problems typically found in that field.

https://t.co/TvJxBy8EpH Our paper on cargo adaptor regulation of kinesin and dynein motor proteins is now out at Nature communications. Work done by @aslannmerveee , John Canty and Andrew Hensley. Congratulations to the authors!!
Check out Kavita Rangan’s work in this new preprint from our lab! We show that wild squid rapidly employ RNA recoding to generate unique kinesin motor variants in different ocean temperatures. https://t.co/Qg4zMhA2pO 1/
How do tau proteins form envelopes around microtubules to stabilize them? Read our new blog post to find out how scientists at the Institute of Biotechnology @CzechAcademy used dynamic single-molecule experiments to answer this question! @nchembio ⬇️ https://t.co/C4TccBevLB
@curiouswavefn It is wildly unfair to compare rigorous scientific research to literature that explores reality from a whole different angle. They are not of the same kind. To match Einstein, Darwin etc. scientist should read Chomsky, Wallerstein, James Scott.
Using MINFLUX, we could observe stepping of kinesin-1 in living neurons and cancer cells! Very cool work spearheaded by @TakahiroDeguch1 in my group in collaboration with @KapiteinLukas and @mkiwanski in Utrecht. https://t.co/oeAgcNsf2Z (1/6)
Launching https://t.co/0cdVQnM1Jg. Cytoskeleton Consortium Prague teams up research groups of @CzechAcademy offering Ph.D. student positions in Prague in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics. The CCP Partner Cluster is an associate @DIGSBB faculty for graduate studies.
I’m so excited to share our reconstitution system where we saw individual yeast kinetochores on yeast microtubules. But that’s not all, these kinetochores MOVE! We found the kinesin-8, Kip3, moves kinetochores towards the plus-end of the microtubule https://t.co/L8zT9HUhkA
