It's certainly true that a startup can be damaged by raising too much and/or at too high a valuation. Raising too much makes you spend too much. And a high valuation increases the chance of a catastrophic down round later on.

@docneto I’m afraid this is not sound advice. People integrate into a workplace at different paces, and a good employer has to recognize this. The first 2-3 months should focus on helping a new hire understand the systems, processes and culture.
