"#TanaThrowback: The peace and security agenda must invest heavily in prevention... because prevention is cheaper in human and fiscal costs."
— #TanaForum 2018 🌍
Eight years ago, African leaders recognized that reacting to crises costs the continent too much. Today, as the 12th Tana Forum approaches, the strategy shifts. The new frontline of conflict prevention lies in Economic and Resource Sovereignty.
When Africa controls its strategic resources and builds industrial capacity, the continent prevents the very conditions that spark conflict.
How effectively do current policies protect the continent's strategic resources?

#Ethiopia's maritime access is a non-negotiable economic imperative to unshackle its 135M+ citizens from landlocked confinement following the historical injustices that stripped its #Red_Sea coastlines, anchored in legally binding frameworks to secure 🇪🇹's future.

10. Ghana $1.91
Total FDI Top 10: $50.5 billion, 72.0% of total Africa FDI.
International investors are clearly indication their preferences by investing billions in countries with strong longterm growth prospects and scalability.
Interesting insight: Egypt and Ethiopia are the only two African countries consistently ranked in the Top 5 FDI destinations for 5 years in a row. They are also amongst the 5 largest economies in Africa and, after Nigeria, Ethiopia and Egypt are the 2nd and 3rd most populous countries on the continent. Big bets by international investors in the two most geopolitically, systemically and economically important anchor countries in Africa.
Ethiopia’s role is particularly interesting as the world’s 2nd fastest growing economy at 9.2% (IMF) and at the same time it’s the diplomatic capital of Africa as the headquarters of the African Union (AU). It’s like combining the roles of New York (financial capital) with Washington DC (political/diplomatic capital). Very few countries, even in the developed world, play such a dual role let alone an emerging economy like Ethiopia. Huge opportunities for the country to sustain its growth and influence.

Today, at the 'Digital for Excellence' summit, we officially inaugurated the Unified MESOB Application, Africa's first unified digital service application that brings services from across institutions onto a single platform. This milestone is a source of immense national pride and a testament to what deliberate, focused investment in technology can deliver.
MESOB one-stop service is critical economic infrastructure. It saves citizens' time, closes corruption gaps, and strengthens institutional integrity on the government side. Above all, it stands as a clear demonstration that Ethiopia's ambitions are not wishes, they are realities we build with our own hands and our own capacity.
I call on us to consolidate this achievement, share this experience with our African brothers and sisters, and move forward with the determination to deliver even more!
