🇪🇺 Finnish MEP to the EU: Stop letting video games get "deleted" for good when companies shut them down.

Maria Ohisalo, a lifelong gamer, says she can still play her old 90s console games, but tons of newer ones are just gone, killed off when a publisher pulls the server, sometimes without even telling players.

Her point ties into the Stop Destroying Video Games campaign, backed by 1.3 million Europeans: if you buy something, you should own it.

She is not asking studios to preserve everything forever, just to let games survive once the servers die.

Gamers have been saying this for years. It is refreshing to hear a lawmaker say it back.

The European Parliament has taken a major step toward creating a digital euro, a new form of money issued by the European Central Bank.

>The digital euro would function as digital cash for everyday payments. It is not a cryptocurrency and is not meant to replace cash, but would provide another safe and easy payment option.

> They want to reduce Europe’s dependence on U.S. payment giants like Visa and Mastercard and give the EU more control over its payment system.

>People could use it through banks and approved apps, with some payments working offline.

The proposal still needs final approval from EU countries and institutions. If approved, testing could start in 2027 and a launch could follow around 2029.
