There’s nothing more alarming than when someone blurts out, “What are you doing on [insert any day]?” and then waits expectantly for your response.
It should be illegal not to state the activity first - i.e., “I’m having a barbecue on Saturday. Would you like to come?” Simply coming straight out with “What are you doing on Saturday?” is a trap! You could be about to be asked to help someone move house (the horror) or to give them a lift to the airport (the horror), rather than attending a nice, pleasant barbecue.
It’s an irresponsible way of asking a question and causes completely unnecessary spikes in blood pressure.
“What are you doing on Saturday?” The only reasonable answer the person should expect is “Depends.”
Wishing my little Sister Rea Nason a very happy 40th Birthday.
Only seems like yesterday I was sitting in McDonald's with Nanny Margaret and Dad found us to tell me I had a little Sister. I was so excited I couldn't finish eating my chips! Lol
Earlier today, I had my back to my wife when I heard her say, “Do you want to keep this box?”
I froze. Keeping my back turned, I carefully replied, “Please don’t show me the box. I’ll immediately form an emotional attachment to it. Just put it in the bin. Don’t let me see it.”
We narrowly missed adding another box to my special box collection in the garage. But I’m sitting here now, thinking, “I wonder what kind of box it was. I wonder what it might have been useful for.”
