It was never just a bridge.

Yesterday i was almost in tears over the immense amount of support being shown to us by the Solana ecosystem and jup space catdets after the most intense amount of fud since Dec 2022.

And this morning i woke up w an intense desire to take all the incredible lessons we learnt to do well for Jupiter, the ecosystem and crypto culture.

Firstly, I am extremely proud of the team, ecosystem and community for this launch, we airdropped a fuck ton of value to the ecosytem, got a ton of people excited (many overly so) about Jupiter, and have an amazing base of community members to thrive together with us for the years and years to come.

For Jupiter, I will introduce the long overdue J.U.P. working group, the 2024 product priorities for Jupiter, and why we think yearly Jupuary is a great ritual to aim for.

There are a ton of product improvements we need to make across the whole product line, important new integrations to roll out and completely new initiatives we are thinking of.

I am 100% convinced that LFG is a good starting point for navigating the fairness/funding/hype dynamic of new launches, and I will share the key lessons i have learned from the past 2 launches to help other projects do well. We will take a month to regroup, improve the platform.

In addition, I shared a few key ideas around a global composable atomic market, open stock exchange and the great meta migration - and i want to build these on Solana n i know we have the best ecosystem and community possible to build it.

For crypto culture, I will make sure I own up to anything i did not do as well as possible, and not be defensive or evasive if questioned. I am also sorry that if i get overly snappy or have mean quips sometimes, but you have to remember deep in this cat is an internet troll that needs to come out now and then. :D

Lastly, i owe a ton of people their thanks, have been overdue on that, so do it shortly.

So yup, no more replies to fud or snappy tweets - we will get back to being 100% product, community and ecosystem focused, with detailed essays and livestreams where we explain things in clear detail.

I wrote a thread a while back where I talked about how Solana could potentially dethrone ETH.

Back then, most people laughed. They're still laughing, it's just a bit more silent these days.

Maybe you've noticed.

The question is, will the laughs go completely silent one day? My answer is still yes.

But why?

I can sit here and throw stats in your face about how Solana has flipped ETH in this - and that - but I have a simpler rationale.

Audience + Adopters

The buying audience of Web3 markets can be broken down into three categories:

1. Crypto Natives (You, reading this).
2. Retails Investors, aka "normies"
3. Institutional Investors

Crypto Natives:
Solana is the talk of the town. The ETH ecosystem has slowly begun a shift over to Solana as it has skyrocketed in price, opportunity and popularity.

This is glaringly obvious. It's reflected in DEX, and NFT volume spiking, eclipsing that of Ethereum's on multiple, multiple occasions.

What is happening is maxis are simply trying Solana for the first time; and the ecosystem is incredibly sticky.

There is a lot to do, and you can do it faster and cheaper than practically anywhere else.

Throw tools like @phantom's 'cross-chain swapper' into the mix and suddenly migration becomes less of a hassle, and more of a comfortable necessity.

Truthfully, Solana is attracting liquidity, and simply trying it comes down to a "why not?"

The (good) problem is that once people try it, they become spoilt; and never leave.

Retail/Normies:
Relatively simple –– on a long enough time frame, normal people will not pay their apartment rent in gas fees to play on a chain when there is a cheaper alternative.

I'd go so far as to say no sane person is actually okay with paying ridiculous gas fees. Not forever.

What sets Solana apart is not just its speed; it's equal opportunity. A level playing field for every day, normal people to partake in.

Onboarding is virtually frictionless these days thanks to clever UI and an approach to simplicity that once again, you simply cannot find anywhere else.

Institutional Investors:
I've seen companies like Shopify, Visa and Google position themselves within the Solana ecosystem relatively early.

What I know will happen, eventually, is a domino effect of FOMO from other massive companies and institutional investors.

Blackrock's BTC ETF is the hot topic of the month. If it gets approved (there's a 99.8% chance it will), adoption will scale. What happens next is up in the air... especially since the SEC claims Solana is a security.

It's an interesting topic. But at the end of the day, the SEC can not even properly define what a security is. It's not a good faith argument, and the fact still stands:

Solana has zero competition.

It's a monolith in every sense of the word... and it's scaling out of control.

I say all this without even mentioning the upcoming @jump_ 'Firedancer' update, which will be the metaphorical 'nail in the coffin' for all of the critics and detractors.

A multi-chain future will exist; but only 2-3 chains will matter.

I don't see a future where Solana isn't one of them... and I especially don't see a future where people choose dial-up over broadband.

Like everyone else in the world I was wondering how tf @mert happened for Solana, like how do you get a world class techie and shitposter to vigilantly defend you against what was the entire internet at one point fudding and fading you?

I mean he must be the one present that every ecosystem builder will dream of having this xmas. if aptos had a mert they would 20x their supporter base easy.

After a lot of effort, i finally figured how it happened and here's the result of my research. This research was quite intense so I hope you will like and rt it, it would help support my future work.

The Legend Of Xmas Mert

Last Xmas, Toly was sitting at the fireplace feeling a bit 😔 about all the fud that the internet are slinging about solana. Some of it is fair, but most of it is just nasty and wrong and it’s impossible for any mortal to have the capacity to tackle the relentless onslaught without some help from the solars.

It was a cloudy night, reflecting the moods of the solana ecosystem.

Out of the sudden, the clouds separated, and crypto santa boomed out of the clouds on his reindeer decked lambo from the bloodmoon (stained by the blood leaked by the vampire sam on his very short stay there).

He slided down the chimmy like the sexy mf he is, and boomed at toly: “GOOD NEWS Toly. You have been a really good boy this year despite all the shit. Those people on the internet have been really really bad boys jumping on your ass with zero research just for magic internet candy points with their hiveminds”

Shocked at the presence of cSanta, but used to anything by now (I mean, ftx just happened), Toly looked up at cSanta with and went “yes santa, I’ve been trying really hard but im not sure what I can do. I’m already on fighting fires and on Twitter 24/7 and I’m not sure what else more i can do”

cSanta said “don’t worry fam I got ya” and pulled out a shiny bald mert from the passenger seat and handed him to Toly “Take this - this is a legendary baby Canadian Mert, one of its kind, only for the the best boys of all”

Toly gawked in wonder as he received baby mert. It was quite a thing, small, but already fiery and brimming with a certain intensity he has never seen before.

cSanta continued “he’s only a small Mert now but within the year will grow into the most formidable firebreathing dragon in the whole CT, loved by some, feared by all, avoided by baddies."

"He shall vigilantly scan the expansive sky’s day and night, not just replying, but becoming THE reply guy. Fud shall be eliminated, mistakes will be corrected, sometimes politely, sometimes annoyingly but never wrongly. All who read his replies should be enlighted.”

Toly could not believe his amazing xmas present and asked “that sounds too good to be true, guess dreams do come true, is there anything I need to do for him?”
